About this property

Settled into the market town of Alnwick, Northumberland, Churchside is a wonderful terraced three-storey townhouse close to local amenities and atractions. Be welcomed into a splendid property, where you have the choice of two wonderful sitting areas, including a ground-floor snug with double glass doors opening up onto the patio, an ideal spot for alfresco dinging, and a larger first-floor sitting room where all guests can curl up on the leather sofas and catch up on their favourite TV programs. The kitchen/diner is amply fitted to cater to all of your culinary needs, and has an airy atmosphere, as well as a dining table. Three bedrooms, as well as a bathroom, can be found throughout this property, with a twin on the first floor, ideal for children, and a king-size with storage and seating on the second floor, as well as a king-size zip-link, which can be set up as a twin on request. Alnwick is a fantastic area, with lots on offer for guests, beginning with the great many eateries available to you, so enjoy a meal out before enjoying a riverside walk at Hulne Park or checking out the local independent shops. Alnwick has a gardens, the fantastic book shop café of Barter Books, and a golf club, however it is most well known for its brilliant castle, which you can visit to learn more about the local area. If you fancy a trip to the beach, head over to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy walks, watersports and wild swimming at the beautiful local beach. Make a family getaway to remember with a stay at Churchside.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

We were a family of 4 adults and there was room to spread out. Beds comfortable and bathrooms all good and well cleaned prior to arrival. Kitchen had lots of utensils etc so dead easy to cook as well in the house. Parking a great bonus as well. Location excellent for Alnwick, some nice bars and restaurants in the town and a minutes walk from the castle. Nice and clean and welcoming on arrival. Can't really fault it apart from the need for the front door handle needing some attention.

Very central to the town and attractions. Private parking was very welcome. The outdoor area was of no use. The front door lock and handle are of need of urgent attention.

It is a quiet area. It has three good sized bedrooms (I found the bed in the main bedroom on the third floor very comfortable), well equipped bathrooms, two living rooms and an up to date kitchen. It is all well decorated. The owner has left lots of useful information. If I were to make negative comments (and these are more comments rather than criticisms) - the central heating is somewhat fiddly - we had to reset this upon arrival and the house was therefore cold until it had cut back in - there were good instructions as to what to do - but I am no plumber. The recycling instructions in the cottage seem to contradict those on the bins themselves. The filter in the hoover seemed to be blocked or obstructed. These observations do not detract from the fact that this is a lovely property in a pretty village/town in a great location.
