Alnmouth, a picturesque resort well-liked by golfers and those seeking a quiet holiday, is located only 4 miles east of Alnwick. The hamlet, which serves as Alnwick's port today, is located on a small peninsula jutting out into the North Sea and River Aln. Today, the region has reverted to its natural state and offers a good selection of stores, bars, and eateries in addition to a fantastic "links" golf course, some fantastic rivers for fishing, and miles and miles of magnificent beaches and sand dunes to explore with breathtaking views of the North Sea. With its renowned historic castle, Poison Garden, which offers guided walks through hazardous plants, and a range of pubs and restaurants, Alnwick is only a short drive away. Northumberland may be easily explored from Alnmouth.

The beds were very comfortable. The proximity to the coast is great . Up the behind the cottages are some lovely views. Warkworth beach is a short drive away. The Indian takeaway in Shilbottle is excellent. Thank you for the bottle of wine and the chocolates.

I had messaged the owners for some information and they very quick to get back to me. I am sure they are lovely people. However, being woken up every morning as early as 5am by Cockerels was not pleasant! They were then being let out at about 7ish as my son would be woken up between 7-730 with one shouting at his window. The main bed was like a concrete pad with cracks in the frame, so everytime you moved it would make a noise. Also, the boil sounded like a train in the night behind the bedroom wall. If you didn't leave the boiler on, very little hot water in the morning! There generally wasn't enough hot water for 4 people to shower in the morning or night anyway. It was my fault for not reading. However, there is no washing machine at this cottage. So for us as a family of 4 and a dog for 7 nights was not practical. We have stayed in lots of cottages and this is the first one without a washing machine. The rest of the kitchen is fairly well equipped. We are from North Yorkshire and also have our own chickens and spend alot of time in the moors, so we are very much suited to country life. With all this said, we checked out 2 days early as we were all very tired from lack of sleep. For a family this cottage would be ok for a weekend, but that is it.

We are aware of current problems with wild rabbits with myxomatosis, we saw a couple while there. There was also a few dead rabbits rotting away within a few meters of the cottage. So had to be careful with the dog. (Need to be moved really) Also, not from the dead rabbits, but the first few days there was a smell of death hanging around which is very unpleasant. With all this said, we checked out 2 days early as we were all very tired from lack of sleep. For a family this cottage would be ok for a weekend, but that is it.
