About this property
A spacious, stone-built cottage, with enclosed patio area to the side and far-reaching views over the stunning Northumberland coastline. Three bedrooms, one king-size, one twin with family bathroom and a single with accessible facilities and en-suite walk-in wet room. Open plan living area with French door through to the patio, a perfect sun trap. Long Cart is ideally placed for touring the stunning Northumberland Heritage Coast. Note: This property can be booked alongside Refs. 917240, 924725, 930497, 930498, 947951, 949760, 970049, 970136, 970137, 970138, 1040639, 1040640, 1040642, 1112310, 1120842, 1122318, 1122319, 1122320, and 1122321, together sleeping a total of 87 guests.
The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

The pool was nice, just a little bit too cold for my daughter to be in for very long, and the cottage was great. Would definitely stay again

The property was nicely decorated although this was let down by the amount of dust seen i.e TV in bedroom and some doors. Given the list of instructions left for guests i.e stripping beds, emptying all bins and ensuring all kitchen equipment left clean etc we felt a little let down that the rest of the property didnât live up to this. The use of the pool was great albeit limited but this is understandable if all properties are occupied. All in all a nice place but not as homely as other Sykes Cottages.

We chose Long Cart Cottage because one of our party has Parkinsonâs disease, we realise that the cottage wasnât advertised as suitable for people with a disability but it did have an adjustable bed and a ramp into the cottage. We feel it would be a benefit for the wet room to have a hand held shower as well as an overhead one which would make showering for a disabled person so much easier. The second bathroom would also benefit if it had a shower over the bath. Overall the cottage was very clean and comfortable.
