About this property

Belford 1.6 miles. Tucked away into the coastal hamlet off Easington, near Belford, Barley House is a stunning contemporary property which is ideal for a family looking to explore the Northumberland coast and countryside. Park off-road and be welcomed by the eye-catching wood-clad stone exterior of this property, allowing it to combine traditional cottage vibes with contemporary design. Inside, the stylish air is continued into the open-plan living area, a space where glass double doors and a high ceiling make for an airy feel. Settle down in the sitting area where two stylish blue sofas huddle beside a woodburning stove with a backdrop of bare stone wall.

When mealtimes call, the ample amenities and great amount of space means that guests can cook together using local produce, and enjoy this on the wooden dining table, making this an excellent social hub for everyone to enjoy. When the evenings draw in, take a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles in the contemporary bathroom, before cosying up for the night in either the king-size bedroom or the twin. Outside, breakfast in the sunshine is a must, with a lovely gravel and patio area with a barbecue for you to put your culinary skills to the test. Easington rests beside the village of Belford, housing a convenience store where you can stock up on essentials, as well as a selection of tasty eateries.

Budle Bay is close by, with a beautiful sandy beach, so why not head over to the shoreline for a walk in the salty air, or even try out watersports? Bamburgh is within easy reach and has a fantastic sandy beach but is perhaps best known for its magnificent castle, towering over the countryside and allowing for breath-taking views in all directions, and the amazing Holy Island is also within easy reach, with many historic sites, including Lindisfarne Priory. Make a family holiday you won’t forget with a stay at the stylish Barley House.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

We will definitely be coming back

We loved the location, the quality of the house and all of the fixtures and fittings. The kitchen was well stocked with good pots/pans/cuttlery which is something we have found to be poor in other holiday lets. Our only problem was with the under floor heating as we struggled to keep it set at a constant temperature. This turned out to be the batteries but we only realised that on our penultimate day! All in all we loved the place, the area, the people and the wonderful coastline of Northumberland

Very well equipped and comfortable, perfect for familys with the enclosed garden, we stay in Northumberland quite a lot and would definitely love to book this cottage again. Not a negative but would of liked to of watched a smart tv on an evening especially with kids, and could of done with a bit more care to the cleaning e.g dusting and shower head/tiles. As it looked like the mirror/windows and bedside tables, and tv/ shelves hadn't been dusted in a while. Thankyou for a lovely, comfortable stay
