The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

However there are a few things that need to be addressed if we were to stay there again. The house was dusty and had not been cleaned well. The vacuum had not been emptied and there were empty glass bottles left in the utility room presumably by the previous guests. Also the shower height control for the handset was broken making only the overhead shower available- not great for the ladies who didnât want wet hair with every shower There was no plug in the kitchen sink - we had one delivered from Amazon. And the oven was possibly the worst weâve experienced in many years of cottage stays. Also it wasnât clear in the listing that to get out to the outside space it was through the garage and down a flight of stairs. We had planned to use the space but it was not practical for us, would have been helpful to know this beforehand If you can address these issues we would stay there again. Happy to discuss if that helps the owners improve.

.could have been a litle bit cleaner ..we hoovered round ourselves as there was a lot of top dust and hair on the floors & shower Could do with a few more cups / mugs and for the occupancy no of the house Definitely need a bath mat has we had to keep using and washing the hand towels! Other than that we loved the property We thought it would be nice to have a visitors book too

Really spacious & immaculately clean. Location great, just a short walk to the beach and local amenities Just be aware that dogs arenât allowed upstairs, which isnât in the listing. The only thing Iâd suggest this house needs is a bath mat, otherwise fantastic! .
