Barnacle Cove is a well-received holiday rental with stunning sea views and a prime location for beach access and coastal walks. Guests praise its spaciousness, comfort, and well-equipped nature, including a games room and thoughtful welcome gifts. Some concerns over cleanliness and maintenance are noted, alongside temporary building work next door.
Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, with only a few mentioning issues with cleanliness in specific areas. The majority of reviews reflect a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its amazing sea views and proximity to the beach, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and exploration of the Northumberland coastline.
Guests consistently mention the property's comfort, highlighting the comfortable beds and warm, welcoming atmosphere, despite some experiencing issues with heating instructions.
The property is well-equipped with a games room and Sky TV, though some guests reported issues with the oven and heating system, and a lack of DVD player and reading lights. Maintenance responsiveness is mixed.
Several reviews mention welcome gifts such as wine and biscuits, which are appreciated by guests. However, as gifts are subject to change and not guaranteed, their presence should be considered a bonus rather than an expectation.
With stunning views across Beadnell’s beaches and the ocean beyond, Barnacle Cove is an ideal getaway for a family or group of adults looking to explore Northumberland. Park off-road and ascend to the first-floor, where the living area of this property is located, and be welcomed into a spacious sitting area where a gas fire lets out a welcoming glow from the stone fireplace as you settle down with a coffee in one of the sofas, enjoying the natural light and seaside views, captured through large windows. When mealtimes call, the excellent kitchen/diner has a selection of amenities on offer for you, as well as a dining table, and there is also the option of a sun room with extra furniture, where an eye-catching green wood panelled ceiling and walls add unique features to this property.
On the second floor you will find a stylish bathroom as well as three of the four bedrooms, including a king-size bedroom with stunning sea views from the large windows, a twin and single bedroom perfect for children, and on the ground floor you will find a stylish double with wood panelled walls, along with a shower room, and from the ground floor you can access the enclosed font garden. The wonders of Northumberland begin on your doorstep, with the beautiful coast of Beadnell offering walks in the salty air and sandy bays, or there is the picturesque rocky beach at Ebb’s Nook.
Beadnell has a selection of eateries for you to enjoy, as well as a convenience store, and if you travel a little further from the property you will be able to embark on scenic walks through Northumberland’s Coast AONB and the Dunstanburgh Castle Walk. Make a family holiday to remember with a stay at the scenic Barnacle Cove.
This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.

Loads of equipment and some handy foodstuffs in the kitchen (cooking oil, salt and pepper and other bits and bobs). The welcome pack was great too. No coffee machine which would be nice to have, there is however a coffee cafetiere. TV and streaming services provided very much appreciated. The games room downstairs was a lot of fun. We spent Christmas week at Barnacle Cove, it was decorated nicely and we had a wonderful time. We definitely recommend and would come back for another stay.

Great location with fantastic views of the sunrise. Beadnell beach is beautiful and clean and great for walking the dogs would definitely recommend.

The listing says it may not be suitable for people with mobility issues when it should actually say totally unsuitable. There is no access without stairs. The external stairs are steep and slippy when wet. Once inside on the middle floor where the lounge / diner and kitchen are there is no access to toilet facilities without stairs. The outside space is also limited. The back is fully block paved for car parking and not at all suitable for sitting out. The front which is obviously not private has a small lawn and bench seat. No outdoor tap or hose for washing the dogs after returning from the beach. On the positive side the house was clean and well equipped with great views of the sea opposite. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were good quality. We had one issue with the Wi-Fi and the owner was quick to contact us by phone which was good. It was due to a short power cut so nothing to do with the house itself. For us itâs not a house we would use again, mainly because of the difficult access and lack of pleasant outside space. For the price there are much better options in the vicinity if you sacrifice the view.
