Guests say

Catcleugh Bridge View is a highly praised cottage, celebrated for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning location. Guests consistently commend the property for its modern amenities and spaciousness, ideal for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. The dark skies, wildlife, and proximity to Kielder Forest and the observatory are recurrent highlights, with special mentions of the garden's visiting birds.

Reviewers unanimously mention the exceptional cleanliness of the cottage, describing it as 'spotless' and 'very clean', indicating a very high standard of hygiene maintained at the property.

The location is highly valued for its beauty and tranquility, with proximity to Kielder Forest, observatory, and dark skies. Some guests note the remoteness and recommend shopping beforehand, which slightly affects convenience.

Guests frequently highlight the comfort of the cottage, mentioning 'comfy beds' and the property being 'spacious and calm'. The consistent praise suggests a very comfortable stay for visitors.

The cottage is lauded for being well-equipped and well-appointed, with mentions of modern facilities. However, the lack of local shops and the village pub's unreliable opening times suggest room for improvement in local amenities.

The property receives positive remarks for thoughtfulness, such as a welcome tray on arrival. While this indicates a considerate approach by the hosts, it is politely noted that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

With so much to see and do around this area, it is perfect for all ages and offers plenty of nature all year round. The night skies are outstanding, set in the National Park with the biggest man-made lake in Europe and at over 250 square miles, the park is the largest working forest in England. With three visitor centres, including the historic Kielder castle, you will find loads to explore. A great area for adventure seekers, with land and water-based activities, explorers who may want to try the many walking routes, or simply go wild at the nature reserves. You may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife which were re-introduced to the area, including water voles and ospreys.

The area is perfect for exploring a little further afield, perhaps over to the Scottish Borders, or Hadrian’s Wall country or even over to the stunning heritage coast. The skies here are darker than anywhere in the country, so star gazing is immensely popular with the observatory well worth a visit, but be sure to book first. Fishing on the 2000-acre water is perfect, and you can hire a boat if you want to try different spots. Let’s not forget mountain bikers, who can enjoy routes for all levels and abilities, surrounded by the stunning scenery.

If high ropes and zip wires are your thing, or sea scooters and water waltzers, then Kielder has something for everyone. A real Northumberland gem with something for all age groups. Shop 8 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. The sister property to this one, Kerseycleugh Bridge Cottage (UK30415), is only a 5-minute drive away.

Lovely spacious cottage in beautiful surroundings. There were 6 of us including 2 teenagers and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. Also close to the Observatory and the Dark Skies Park..
