An onsite bar/restaurant is perfect for an evening meal. Under a mile from Le Petit Château wedding venue, it’s also ideal for attending weddings. The village of Otterburn offers the historic Otterburn Mill, a café and shop, while Bellingham boasts golf, cafes, pubs, and riverside walks. For adventurers, head to Kielder Forest for cycling, hiking, water sports, and stargazing, or explore Alnwick with the famous castle, the Northumberland Coast with miles of stunning beaches, or the scenic Scottish Borders – all within easy reach.
Visit Cragside in Rothbury with the historic house and gorgeous gardens only half an hour way. Had a lovely break in Squirrel Lodge. The welcome basket and fresh milk was such a lovely treat.The lodge itself had everything we needed for a family of 5.The hot tub was lovely way to relax after a day exploring.The location of the lodge is on Otterburn Hall Estate. There are around 30 lodges onsite however the Hotel is currently closed so some of the surrounding areas do look quite tired and rundown. There was also some old furniture and rubbish left at the side of the lodge and on our decking which spoils the cleanliness of the pitch.The is a small bar serving only drinks, open a few nights a week.We did enjoy the peacefulness of the site - managing to see lots of wildlife; birds, red squirrels and deer.If you're looking for a very quiet, no nonsense stay then this is a perfect location.

We had a lovely time at Squirrel lodge. The welcome package was plentiful and much appreciated after our 4 hour drive. The derelict coach house opposite is a shame as it looks like a gorgeous building. However this does not take away from the well equipped lodge. It had all the things you would need including tea, coffee, sugar, bin bags etc, all a really big plus point. The beds were comfy and the bath and shower were luxurious. We enjoyed the hot tub which was excellent unfortunately high winds did blow the lid off in the night as we couldn’t clip it down. We really enjoyed the site it was so quiet and peaceful and there was loads to do within an hours drive. We would definitely return. We would have left a positive review in the book on site but unfortunately did not have a pen.
