We recently spent 5 days at Squirrel lodge and it was a lovey stay. On arrival we found the property to be very quaint and picturesque, the kitchen looked brand new with a brand new oven fitted that day. The tableware was especially nice with quality cutlery, not cheap thin sets that you usually get at rental properties. The stocked up tea and coffee station was welcomed after our almost 4 hour journey! The whole house was lovely and clean, smelled good (even though it is a pet friendly property, you would never know) and the beds were clean and well presented. Plenty of towels provided, which is essential for kids in and out of the hot tub and our teen boy that loves showers. The mini fridge with complimentary prosecco and Squirrel ale was a really classy touch. Dishwasher and air fryer were a novelty we're not used to, so that was nice! Large bath and waterfall shower and overall modern bathroom was great too. Also nice and clean in there. Free WiFi was great for the kids too. The hot tub is SO good!! Our last trip away also had a hot tub but it wasn't very "hot" and it makes a real difference, this one was really nice and warm, with cool lights and a view of the stars, perfect! Would recommend you bring food with you as local supermarkets are scarce. The Premier shop a few mins drive away is very well stocked, and although some items were ridiculously priced, others were fab and they had the most delicious biscuits on sale there. Anything like an asda or aldi is at least a 20 minute drive away. The owner of the property was on hand immediately and couldn't do enough to help when we unfortunately experienced a power cut. (Turns out it was a brief blackout for everyone within 50 miles) but still he was available to chat, friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this property to families who are looking for a relaxing trip, where getting in touch with nature and spending quality time with family is needed.
