Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the thoughtful touches from the owners, including a welcome pack. The property serves as an excellent base for exploring the Northumberland coast, with easy access to local shops, eateries, and the harbour.

Reviewers consistently mention that the property is 'spotlessly clean', reflecting a high standard of cleanliness that contributes to a comfortable and welcoming stay.

The cottage's location is frequently highlighted as 'great' and 'central', ideal for accessing local amenities and serving as a base for coastal exploration, which guests find very convenient.

Guests find the cottage to be very comfortable, noting the 'comfy' beds and well-furnished living spaces that contribute to a cosy and relaxing experience.

The property is well-equipped with modern appliances and facilities, though some guests suggest minor additions. Maintenance is good, with recent renovations mentioned, but the lack of a private garden and shared outdoor space is noted.

About this property

Resting centrally in Amble, a bustling harbour town in Northumberland is Stone's Throw, a well-positioned, two-bedroom holiday home. Just paces away from a hub of shops, eateries, pubs, the marina and shoreline, Stone's Throw makes the ideal base for exploring the delights of the county, well-equipped for a self-catered stay; four guests are invited, ideal for couples sharing or friends. Park up on the roadside in the centre of the town, before travelling by foot to Stone's Throw and its stone-fronted exterior. Enter the homely living/dining room, complete with plush seating, a TV, and dining for four guests, before locating the contemporary kitchen, well-equipped with all expected appliances. When sleep calls, head upstairs to select between the double and queen bedrooms, both well-presented and serviced by a sleek shower room. Come morning, explore the marina and the wealth of amenities on your doorstep, including several convenience stores, and popular eateries, including The Fish Shack, The Old Boathouse, and Lily's Landing. For countryside views, head to the Hauxley Nature Reserve, perfect for bird watching and wildlife spotting, or if you favour the coastal landscape, stop off at Warkworth Castle whilst travelling towards Warkworth's golden beach. Travel further towards Alnmouth, also home to a popular shoreline, Alnmouth Golf Club, and The Old School Gallery, showcasing a variety of local artwork, or discover the Northumberland shoreline some more at Druridge Bay Country Park, or East Chevington Bay Beach; both Northumberland Zoo and the Northumberland National Park are also within reach, popular attractions to add to your itinerary. Experience all of this, and more, at Stone's Throw.

Amble, a bustling small harbour at the River Coquet's mouth, is a great starting point for exploring Northumberland. In addition to sandy beaches, a marina, a harbour, and coastal hikes to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and the national park at Druridge Bay, Amble, once a centre for boatbuilding, offers all of these amenities. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are landed by the large fishing boats that are moored around the harbour wall. On the side of the harbour is a fish centre that sells local fish and is available to the public. It is currently mostly a shellfish hatchery to restock levels of lobster and other shellfish. Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble.

We had lovely sunny days and enjoyed the coastal walks a unexpected bonus was the lights switch on. There was a Steel band just at the end of our street and the parade past by only 20 metres from our cottage. A wonderful weekend which we have many happy memories to cherish

It was warm and cosy The bed was very comfy and the shower iwas great. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Parking wasnt an issue as we didnt use the car a great deal and you canload/unload at the door. The only thing we missed was an outside space especially as the weather was so good. The yard isnt described as shared in the listing and we were worried about the dog being let out or weeing in the yard., so it meant we couldnt leave the kitchen door open.. Having a washing machine and dishwasher was a bonus though as i dont think they were in the description. Lots of great walks and things to do in the area and very close to the shops and places to eat/drink. A lovely house. We had a great week. Thank you.

Perfect location - immaculately clean and super comfy. Had everything we needed and more. Not a problem with the parking and although we were disappointed that the yard was shared with another property, it didn't detract from our stay. We just didn't use it at all as it wasn't private. Hosts were super friendly with great communication and even left us a card for our anniversary! Already recommended it to friends and we'll definitely be back - thanks Paul & Sandra.
