Mary Rose Cottage is praised for its peaceful and private setting, with many guests appreciating the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the added bonus of a sea view. The property's location is ideal for exploring Northumberland's coast and attractions. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage clean, particularly the kitchen and bathroom areas upon arrival. However, a few mentioned signs of wear and the presence of mould in the bathroom, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to beaches, castles, and historical sites, as well as its unexpected sea views, making it a perfect base for exploring the area.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, highlighting the airy living spaces and comfy beds. Some guests suggested that the furniture could be updated for enhanced comfort, particularly for taller individuals.
The property is well-equipped with a range of amenities, including a BBQ, play station, and a conservatory for wildlife watching. However, guests have suggested that certain areas, such as the bathroom and kitchen lighting, could benefit from maintenance and updating.
While guests did not consistently mention welcome gifts, one review noted the absence of a welcome card/pack. As such, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.
Warkworth 2 miles. A delightful, detached lodge, set in the peaceful grounds of Eastfield Hall, just 2 miles inland from the coastal village of Warkworth. Eastfield Hall was once a grand Victorian country house and the grounds boast splendid views towards the sea. One of a small number on the site, this large, modern, light and airy child-friendly lodge provides excellent accommodation. Finished to a high standard, this Warkworth cottage offers the convenience of open plan living, in a lovely large room with vaulted ceiling. This Warkworth cottage also has a relaxing conservatory with views over open countryside to Warkworth Castle and Coquet Island beyond - perfect after a day's exploring.
The bustling town of Alnwick, with its famous castle and gardens, is within easy reach of this Warkworth cottage, as is the rest of Northumberland's stunning Heritage Coast. Numerous other castles are on the doorstep: Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh to name a few, and just a little further north is the famous Holy Island. Other favourite destinations close to this Warkworth cottage are NT's Cragside at Rothbury and Hadrian's Wall. A superb Warkworth cottage retreat.
Visitors to Warkworth can't escape the imposing ruins of Warkworth Castle â you can see them from pretty much anywhere in the village. Constructed to protect the inhabitants from marauding Scots and other ne'er-do-wells, the 12th Century ruins have found more recent fame as the location for Hogwarts School in the popular Harry Potter films; if you're staying in the area it might be a good chance for you to practice your Quidditch skills! While its origins may lie in the middle ages, Warkworth's most distinctive architecture is Georgian and Victorian, the pretty main street lined with charming shops, restaurants and cafés. There are plenty of attractions nearby to keep all ages amused from the bird watching haven of the Farne Islands to Alnwick Gardens and it's huge tree house.

Heating was excellent thats important this time of year. A kingsize bed would have been better for us but we copped. On the down side it could have been cleaner as in the crockery knife and forks ect. But a trip to the shop for dishcloths, domestos, surface spray, washing up liquid and kitchen roll and a good hours clean we were soon in action. Overall we would do it again BUT take our own cleaning products with us as we did not leave what we had purchased behind.

It was a great base for exploring the whole of Northumberland. The setting was so peaceful and felt very private. We were very happy with the cottage itself for the reasonable price we paid. It does have some signs of wear in places - particularly the bathroom and the dishwasher kept coming off the rail on one side. We did struggle at times with only having one toilet, as a family of 5 with a teenager and a tween. Overall a really lovely cottage and I would return.
