About this property

A lovely, stone-built, mid-terrace cottage on a working livestock farm in the rural hamlet of Milton, two miles from Brampton. The result of careful, thoughtful conversion of old farm buildings, this Milton cottage retains much charm, with original beams and exposed stonework. This welcoming Milton cottage features a cosy sitting room with attached summer room, a lovely spot to sit and admire the pretty views, a small modern kitchen, and a delightful main bedroom. An ideal romantic retreat, this Milton cottage is further enhanced by the decked balcony, where guests can enjoy views of the countryside, or watch the world go by. A great base to relax, unwind and enjoy this historic area, the market town of Brampton, the North Pennines and majestic Hadrian's Wall. Note: This cottage is next to Refs. 3738, 4585, 917515, 922499, 931769 and 941220, 949797 together they sleep 30.

Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the little hamlet of Milton is set close to numerous attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth and the Lake District National Park. With a rich and colourful history, the market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and boasts evidence of Scottish border raids and the Jacobite uprising. Apparently, even Bonnie Prince Charlie was a fan of the town, establishing his headquarters in what is now a shop. Just a few miles away is the Talkin Tarn Country Park. Covering 180 acres, the Tarn - a 10,000 year old glacial lake - accounts for 65 acres and is fed by underwater springs. Slightly further south, visitors can take a trip to Gelt Woods - an ancient woodland set along the banks of the River Gelt.

Everything was ok apart from the lack of coat rack , had the weather been wet there was nowhere to hang wet coats or anything else Also lacking information about local amenities, doctor, dentist, shops etc Small things but very useful for someone new to the area , Also it's the first time in a holiday let without a welcome pack (carton of milk and loaf of bread if nothing else) otherwise we enjoyed our stay at the barn,

The only thing I would suggest is it would be nice to have some cushions on the settee as I have back issues apart from that great place to stay

  • John

We particularly enjoyed sitting in the conservatory. We would hope to be back soon.
