Rushgill House is consistently praised for its rustic charm, peaceful and dog-friendly environment, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the spacious garden, the property's character, and the helpfulness of the host and neighbouring farmer. It's an idyllic retreat for those seeking tranquility and a touch of homeliness.
The property is described as 'spotlessly clean' by a guest, indicating high standards of cleanliness. No negative comments on cleanliness suggest that guests are generally satisfied in this aspect.
The location is frequently highlighted as beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for exploring the northern Lake District. Its seclusion and proximity to local towns and attractions are well-regarded.
Guests find the house comfortable, homely, and welcoming, with a cosy fire and ample space. However, a comment about limited hot water suggests a slight deduction in comfort for some.
The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and offers a large garden. However, there are suggestions for refreshing kitchenware and a note on the limited hot water supply, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
While guests mention the hospitality of the host and the farmer, there are no specific references to gifts or special thoughtful touches that could be guaranteed for future guests, hence the score cannot be determined.

Just back from a wonderful week at Rushgill House. Location is perfect - relaxed and secluded but then also only a short drive to Penrith. Best of everything! Photo’s just don’t do the house justice! Matt is a wonderful host, friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble and promptly responded to any queries we had - we couldn’t fault him! 😊 Patrick who owns the horses nearby is equally as lovely and provided info on attractions and where to visit etc. whole party thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so much so we’re already planning our return! Highly recommend this little gem!
