About this property

Thimble Hill is a welcoming cottage in Wreay near Carlisle, set in a beautiful countryside position with off-road parking and inspiring views across open fields and woodlands. Arrive, unpack with ease, and take a moment to breathe in the sense of space that surrounds the house; the wraparound gardens invite slow mornings with coffee on the patio and long, lingering evenings outdoors as the day fades into starlight.

Step inside and you’ll find generous interiors made for shared holidays, with plenty of places to gather or peel away for quiet time. The sitting room becomes the heart of the home when the woodburning stove is lit, perfect for swapping stories after a day on the trails, while the snug offers an alternative retreat, with patio doors drawing your gaze back to the grounds. In the kitchen/diner, the electric AGA oven and hob sets the scene for holiday feasts, and the dining space gives everyone a reason to linger over meals and plan the next adventure.

Four double bedrooms provide flexible sleeping arrangements for families and friends, including a ground-floor zip/link double that can be arranged as a twin on request. Upstairs, the standout bedroom pairs a TV with a feature window seat framing those rural views, plus an en-suite with a roll-top bath for indulgent soaks. A family bathroom offers both a roll-top bath and a separate walk-in shower, with an additional cloakroom adding extra convenience.

From the door, wander into Wreay to sample the village pub, then head into Carlisle for its wealth of amenities, a day at the racecourse, or a memorable journey on the Settle–Carlisle railway. For another outing, venture to Silloth for a change of pace and plenty to fill a day out. However you spend your time, Thimble Hill in Wreay near Carlisle is a lovely base for making lasting holiday memories.
