The accommodation was perfect, had everything we needed and had plenty of storage.The lodge was clean and spacious and we really enjoyed our stay.The hot tub was lovely after a long day of walking.We liked the welcome pack, and the personal touch of John greeting us on arrival.

We recently stayed at this lodge and unfortunately did not enjoy our stay as much as we had hoped, and we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.From check-in, there were several issues that impacted our experience. The twin bedroom door looked like it had been kicked in as it was broken and had a massive crack right through the middle of it, we found belongings left behind from previous occupants, and the lodge did not appear to have been properly cleaned due to finding opened food in the kitchen cupboards and a half used pack of baby wipes in a living room cupboard. The kitchen tap lever was also broken, making it inconvenient to use.In terms of comfort, the bed was not comfortable for me (although my partner found it fine), and the sofa was also uncomfortable, which made it difficult to relax.We were also disappointed that the lodge did not match the images shown when we booked a year ago. We later learned these were “show home” photos, which wasn’t made clear at the time of booking so felt misleading. There was also a lack of consistency, particularly with window coverings — ours only had curtains that didn’t properly cover the windows or patio doors or provide adequate privacy. The spa/hot tub also isn’t private.There were some positives: a lovely welcome pack on arrival, a very helpful and kind site manager, free roaming chickens, ducks and donkeys on site, and an appreciated gesture from the owners, who apologised for the inconvenience and offered us a meal at their onsite pub, which we enjoyed, however, these positives did not outweigh the overall experience. Given the price we paid, we do not feel the stay was justified. With better maintenance, clearer communication, and more attention to detail, this could be a much improved experience.
