Cherry Barn is a pretty barn conversion on the outskirts of the quiet village of Dufton, lying on the eastern fellside of the Eden Valley.
This traditional sandstone barn has been tastefully converted into a 2-bedroom holiday home which retains a good deal of charm and character. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the converted barn has excellent views to be enjoyed from the living area of Dufton Pike, a short journey away is Dufton, which has a good pub on the village green and is on the Pennine Way. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, three miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line.
Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away. Have an afternoon tea at the tea room, 200 yards, or an evening meal in the pub with restaurant, 200 yards.

Cherry Barn is very peaceful and well placed for walking. It could do with a little attention, but has comfy beds, enough kitchen equipment and a generous living area. We enjoyed our stay here and loved exploring the area and walks. The Stag Inn in Dufton did a really good pie!

brilliant place to stay the local host, Seamus was very helpful. set in a serene and beautiful place. a great peaceful getaway. Only slight negative observation is that the place looks a bit tired in places and they could do some weeding around the entrance with lots weeds

This is the coldest place I have ever stayed in, when I arrived the the place was freezing cold. It does have electric heaters, but you need them on literally all the time to keep the place warm.If you want isolation and to commune with nature this is the place for you. Not mentioned in the description is this barn sits down the end of single track road, that is not really walkable to Dufton, with its pub and post office. The cutlery was old and tired, and a number of the mugs had not been washed properly. Latterly, I found a comfortable B&B for the same price I paid for Cherry Barn
