Dudmire is a well-received holiday cottage in Cumbria, praised for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and beautiful location. Guests have enjoyed the property's peaceful setting and its proximity to local attractions. The hosts are commended for their helpfulness and the thoughtful touches, such as welcome treats, which contribute to a warm and inviting atmosphere. While there are some minor concerns about facilities and maintenance, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The majority of guests found Dudmire to be spotlessly clean, contributing to a comfortable and welcoming stay. There was, however, a single mention of flies in the kitchen, which suggests a possible issue that may need attention.
The location is highly praised for its scenic views and proximity to walking trails and local villages. Some guests noted the presence of a nearby farm and a road with traffic, but these were not commonly cited concerns.
Guests consistently report that Dudmire is warm, cosy, and comfortable, with plenty of space for large groups. There were a few comments about the need for additional seating in the living area and the comfort of one of the mattresses.
The property is generally well-equipped, but there are several mentions of the kitchen being small for larger groups and issues with lighting. The presence of dehumidifiers suggests a dampness problem in one of the rooms.
Many reviews mention the thoughtful gestures by the hosts, such as welcome packages with treats and helpful communication. It is important to note that while these gestures are appreciated, they may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

Serving the bedrooms is the spacious family bathroom featuring a beautiful roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower, so you can choose to have an indulgent soak in the tub, as the natural light pours in from the windows. On a summer's day, eat lunch outside on the patio at the front of the property, and let the children run around on the grass with so much space to play. When you don't feel like cooking, walk one mile over to the village pub and enjoy some lovely classic dishes with a cold drink, or for more choice journey over to nearby Appleby-in-Westmorland for a wider range of eateries and amenities. . When my husband and myself arrived we were taken aback with the size of the place! The cottage was warm, cosy, comfortable, perfect for a large family break. The facilities were fabulous, comfy beds, powerful showers, lovely bathtub, kitchen facilities were sufficient for me to make Sunday roast for 10, though the kitchen facilities had been criticised in an earlier post this wasn't the case...yes the oven/hob are standard but with careful planning cooking for a large group wasn't a problem. The cottage is beautiful and each one of my family members loved it! The communication with the host was excellent, she was available before and during the holiday to help with any queries. If there was any negatives it would be that in the listings the lounge has 3 sofas but now only 2 so it was a bit of a squeeze to seat everyone, but we managed, but this did not impact on our comfort and enjoyment. If you are considering holidaying here please don't take on board too much the few negative comments, the positives far outweigh them! Thank you so much for allowing us to use Dudmire, its a beautiful place,we have certainly made some precious family memories.

! We arrived to fresh muffins on the kitchen table and we found all the essentials had been provided by the owner (who was also so helpful prior to check-in). Everywhere was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The rainfall shower in the en-suite was super powerful, just loved that. The views were to die for and we all enjoyed a sit outside with our morning coffee wrapped in blanketsâ¦.we barely noticed the traffic on the road beside the property as it was very minimal. The only things I would comment on and this is by no means a complaint just feedback, is that the mattress in the main bedroom could do with being upgraded, it was very uncomfortable compared to the other beds and we were a bit short of seating in the living room sofa wise, I noticed that one of the sofas was missing from the listing pics and this would have made a big difference. So I would 100% recommend Dudmire and we will certainly be back, being from the West of Cumbria, it was just the perfect location for us and my family and I will remember this very special occasion (alwaysâºï¸â¤ï¸)

Very spacious and comfortable. We only stayed for the weekend as a surprise weekend for my Mum's birthday, but I wish we could have stayed longer. Bobbi-jo was very helpful and contacted me when the house was ready as she knew we were wanting to put up birthday decorations before my Mum arrived and she let us have a late checkout on the Sunday so we didn't feel rushed as they had no guests straight after us which was really lovely and just meant we could have a more relaxed morning. The views from the house were beautiful and we had a lovely walk straight from the house and spent Saturday afternoon sat in the garden which the children and dogs really enjoyed. Thank you, we absolutely loved our stay.
