Dudmire is a well-received cottage in Cumbria, praised for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches by the host. Guests enjoyed the peaceful location with beautiful views, ideal for exploring the Lake District. The property is suitable for large groups and families, offering a cosy and comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and welcoming gestures such as cakes and treats on arrival.
The majority of guests found the property spotless, with clean facilities and a warm welcome. However, a few guests mentioned issues with flies in the kitchen and a damp smell in one of the bedrooms, which slightly affected the overall cleanliness perception.
The location is highly regarded for its scenic views and proximity to local attractions, with easy access to walking trails and the Lake District. The peacefulness and rural setting were appreciated, although one review mentioned a nearby busy lane and industrial farm which did not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.
Guests consistently mentioned the property's cosiness and ample space, with plenty of room for large groups to relax. The provision of comfortable bedding and a log burner added to the comfort. A few guests noted the need for better lighting and more accessible bedroom arrangements for those with mobility issues.
The property was well-equipped for a self-catering holiday, with guests particularly enjoying the roll-top bath. Some guests felt the kitchen facilities were somewhat limited for large groups, mentioning a small oven and lack of preparation space. The outside space was also noted to be less than expected.
The host's thoughtfulness was frequently highlighted, with mentions of welcome packages, cakes, and even celebration arrangements. While these gestures were greatly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Very spacious and comfortable. We only stayed for the weekend as a surprise weekend for my Mum's birthday, but I wish we could have stayed longer. Bobbi-jo was very helpful and contacted me when the house was ready as she knew we were wanting to put up birthday decorations before my Mum arrived and she let us have a late checkout on the Sunday so we didn't feel rushed as they had no guests straight after us which was really lovely and just meant we could have a more relaxed morning. The views from the house were beautiful and we had a lovely walk straight from the house and spent Saturday afternoon sat in the garden which the children and dogs really enjoyed. Thank you, we absolutely loved our stay.

The location has an away from it all feeling but is only a short drive to Appleby and the local village Dufton. (Recommend the Stag Inn Dufton for great food) Plenty of walks in the area and Dufton Gyll a lovely woodland walk right next to the house and riverside walk in Appleby spotting otters was a highlight. The house was super clean and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay.. All in all â¦â¦.we loved it.
