Woodside Barn receives consistently glowing feedback for its immaculate cleanliness, peaceful rural setting, and welcoming hosts. Guests praise the well-equipped, comfortable cottage, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. The property is ideal for families and those seeking tranquillity, with easy access to the Lake District. While a car is essential due to its remote location, most guests found this added to the charm. Minor issues, such as WiFi connectivity and the occasional lack of certain kitchen items, were noted but did not detract from overwhelmingly positive experiences.
Cleanliness is repeatedly highlighted, with guests describing the cottage as spotless, immaculate, and exceptionally well maintained. Multiple reviews specifically mention the high standard of cleanliness, with no significant negative comments.
The rural, peaceful location is a major positive, offering beautiful views and tranquillity. While some guests note the remoteness and the need for a car, most appreciate the setting and proximity to Ulverston and the Lake District.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and homely, with good beds and a relaxing atmosphere. A few minor comments about heating control and furniture height for older guests were made, but overall comfort is highly rated.
The cottage is praised for being very well equipped, with quality appliances, two bathrooms, and thoughtful extras like board games and a slow cooker. Occasional suggestions for additional items (e.g., dishwasher, larger dishes) were noted but did not significantly impact satisfaction.
Many guests mention welcome packs including wine, milk, tea, and coffee, as well as friendly, helpful hosts and small gestures like fresh eggs. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

The start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths are close by, as are the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn – locally renowned for their fine ales and good food. This was a good base for exploring the south and western areas of the lakes and whoever arranged the 6 days of sunshine did a great job. I hope we'll be back.
