Kirkby Lonsdale is an attractive market town located in the heart of the Lune Valley between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and possesses a Market Charter from the 13th century. Today, Thursday is market day, providing the perfect opportunity for tourists to explore the town's assortment of unique independent shops and the many surviving 17th- and 18th-century structures. In 2016, the city was a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award. This section of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and it was made famous by Ruskin, whose "view" of the valley is still breathtaking. The Devil's Bridge spans the river, and the tranquil country roads are ideal for exploration by car, bicycle, or horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, horseback riding, fishing, and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area ideal for a getaway during any season. Kirkby Lonsdale was voted 2019's "Best Place to Live in the North West" by The Sunday Times, who praised its "unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit, and one of the cleanest high streets."

Could not fault it, had everything you might need. Loved the spacious rooms and the very large balcony which we used often for dining in the evening sun.
