Garden House is a beautifully furnished, peaceful cottage set in idyllic countryside, perfect for a relaxing escape. Guests consistently praise its tranquil location, comfortable interiors, and welcoming hosts. The garden and views are highlights, and the property is well-placed for exploring the Peak District. While some mention minor issues such as the approach track, limited kitchen storage, and bed access, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
The majority of guests found the cottage very clean and tidy, with only rare mentions of minor cobwebs. Cleanliness is consistently praised throughout the reviews.
The location is frequently described as peaceful, private, and surrounded by beautiful countryside, with easy access to walking routes and local attractions. The only recurring negative is the bumpy approach track.
Guests found the cottage cosy and the bed very comfortable, though several noted limited space around the bed and occasional issues with heating control. Overall, comfort is a strong point.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good amenities. Some guests noted a lack of instructions for appliances, occasional missing items (like dishwasher tablets or cereal bowls), and minor maintenance issues.
Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a welcome bottle of wine and friendly, helpful hosts. However, as gifts like wine are not guaranteed for every stay, this should be noted. Some guests suggested the addition of basic provisions would further enhance the experience.

The welcome bottle of wine was very much appreciated. Beautiful wrap around garden with stunning views in every direction and lots of seating areas. The views of Carsington Water from the top of the hill behind the cottage are stunning - although this is not a public footpath. Owners were very helpful and allowed us to access reservoir path via their land - but do ask their permission. Lashings of hot water and although we didnât need to use the wood burner we did need some additional heat for an hour on a couple of evenings - the c/h controls were easy to use. Kitchen well equipped- loads of crockery/cutlery so we werenât having to wash up after each meal - which is sometimes the case in a small cottage for 2! Cosy living room - tv reception could be a bit temperamental, but we coped and/or switched if off Very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. We actually pulled the bed away from the wall to avoid one of us having to clamber over the other through the night and just pushed back against the wall before leaving . There was plenty of room to get round and past. Bathroom was clean, bath huge, and shower hot! A couple of small observations - thereâs a sign in kitchen saying use only recommended dishwasher tablets - but no clue as to what recommended ones are! In fact it took us 5 days to find any information about the cottage but there is a folder on the bookshelves. A small washable cotton rug by the bed would be lovely - the stone floor was pretty chilly even on warm mornings under foot! We found some amazing trails and walks to do from here and it is such a lovely part of the Peak District. Thanks Jeremy and Lyn for a lovely stay..

Easy parking. Great location. The most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The home is close to town and good pubs. Our chocolate labrador (Aoife)had a great time with Rufus the owners springer spaniel ( he came to our door most mornings

The owner was very friendly and informative and their dog was a lovely pup. Really good location for amazing walks including a very easy access to the lake close by! All in all an excellent stay!
