This hidden gem of a cottage, Lorash, is tucked away along a cobbled lane in the heart of Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Lorash not only offers a family of four reverse-level accommodation in a charming part of Derbyshire but rests a short distance from the Peak District National Park and Alton Towers. Upon arrival, park in the kindly provided permit space in the marketplace, before wandering up the cobbled lane to this delightsome home-away-from-home. As you enter the property, you will find a king-size bedroom enjoying elegant furnishing along with access to an en-suite shower room, cross the hallway to find a lovely twin; both bedrooms offer storage for your belongings.
Climb the stairs to find a charming living/dining room that offers a light and airy space to relax in, thanks to its Velux windows; switch on the electric fire and TV, settle down on the seating and enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. Move across the first floor to find a well-equipped kitchen, where the designated chef will be happy to find a good range of appliances, as well as a handy washing machine. When a mouth-watering meal has been served, it can be enjoyed next door at the dining table whilst you catch up on the day's events.
In the warmer months, the courtyard acts as a delightful suntrap, so why not enjoy a spot of alfresco dining and catch some rays? A swift walk down the cobbled path will bring you to your amenities, including sizeable selection of pubs, eateries and shops to suit all tastes; on Thursdays the town hosts a bustling market a stone's throw from the cottage, so you can browse an array of local wares and take something special home from your stay! A scenic drive will bring you to Matlock, home to the renowned Peak Rail, where rides throughout the dramatic scenery can be enjoyed on a steam engine, along with an established golf club, Matlock Bath Aquarium, Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraha; there's something for everyone here.
Further afield you will find the village of Ticknall, with its Limeyards fishing lake, the close-by Staunton Harold Reservoir with its sailing opportunities and Calke Abbey offering an idyllic outing. A day out in Bolsover awaits, with Bolsover Castle, Castle Leisure Park and Carr Vale Nature Reserve waiting to be explored. Ashbourne is a superb example of an English market town, having a market place with vendors, an odd street pattern, small cobbled lanes, coaching inns, and almshouses. It is located near the southern extremity of the Peak District. The town was a fashionable social centre in the 18th century, and many excellent Georgian structures from that era still stand today. The Dove and Manifold Valleys are near by for people who want more outdoor activities.
