About this property

Resting in the Peak District National Park within the market town of Bakewell, Derbyshire, is Longstone View, a characterful, four-storey historic limestone cottage built in 1890. Well-positioned near a range of local amenities and attractions, whilst offering four guests a traditional base including a well-equipped kitchen/diner with access to a Juliette balcony, a homely sitting room with woodburning stove, and an enclosed courtyard, the cottage welcomes both families and friends for a countryside escape. Park up off-road before entering Longstone View, starting off in the welcoming sitting room, where you can unwind upon the plush seating, enveloped by an original beamed ceiling and the rustling of the woodburning stove. Continue through to the kitchen/diner, dotted with all expected appliances to rustle up and enjoy delicious meals, whilst a handy utility can be found on the lower-ground-floor. Enjoy some fresh air in the rear courtyard, enclosed and private for an alfresco affair, before returning indoors to catch some rest in either of the two bedrooms on offer; locate the third-floor twin bedroom with easy access to the third-floor family bathroom, the second floor has a double with an en-suite shower room and superb views over Bakewell. Awaken to a nature-filled itinerary, starting off locally at the Chatsworth Farmyard & Adventure Playground, or a hike across the Monsal Trail, whilst both the Bakewell Old House Museum, and Chatsworth House showcase the areas heritage. Travelling towards Matlock, be spoilt for choice when arranging days out, with the chance to visit Matlock Bath Aquarium, explore the stunning landscape of Lumsdale Waterfall, tour the Peak District Mining Museum, enjoy a thrill-seeking afternoon at Gulliver's Kingdom theme park, or visit an array of animals at Matlock Farm Park. Further attractions across the area include Treak Cliff Cavern, Mam Tor Mountain, and the remains of Peveril Castle, before heading towards Buxton, home toa museum and art gallery, Poole's Cavern, and Go Ape Buxton. Experience something for everyone at Longstone View.

Bakewell is a charming market town with a rural feel that offers a nice assortment of stores, eateries, and bars in addition to regional farmers markets. The town's historic market hall dates to the 17th century, and a contemporary recreation facility with a pool is close by. In the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is conveniently located for visiting this stunning area. Within reasonable driving distance are Britain's top theme park, Alton Towers, as well as the rocky Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. The spectacular caverns in neighbouring Castleton and Little John's burial site in Hathersage are both well worth a visit, as are the other stately homes to be visited, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall to name a few. Visit the spectacular Edwardian Opera House in Buxton, which was created by Frank Matcham, who also created the London Palladium.

My family had a great time in Bakewell, the cottage was lovely and the views were unbelievable from the top bedroom, I really wasn't expecting that. Also, thanks for the local guidance he provided, I wish I could go to the Thornbridge tap room every week.

Excellent location to walk into town and to visit the rest of the Peak District. The communication with the owner Richard was very helpful and he would respond with any queries. We would love to stay again
