About this property

A luxurious break in the country awaits at The Escape. This fantastic property is between Matlock and Bakewell and within reach of some of the best sights and attractions of the Peak District and the Derbyshire Dales including the Heights of Abraham and Chatsworth House. The Escape sleeps up to ten guests in five very comfortable bedrooms and features an extra games/entertaining room as well as an outdoor luxury sheltered hot tub. Private parking for 4 - 5 cars and Electric car charging point. Perfect for large or extended families or groups of friends, The Escape is available for short breaks or longer stays all year round.

The Escape embodies everything a luxurious Peak District holiday retreat should be. Situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Derbyshire Dales and just a stone's throw from the Peak District National Park, the property is in the peaceful village of Two Dales and within easy reach of popular Peak District attractions. There is space for up to 10 people to sleep in five bedrooms, making The Escape ideal for large and extended families and groups of friends.

The Peak District has beauty around every corner whether it is the changing colours of the leaves in the natural forest and woodland, or the patchwork fields and drystone walls shaped by human hands so long ago that they are now part of the landscape. The Escape is a mile from the village of Darley Dale, where there is a friendly pub and a village shop for the basic essentials. Four miles away, Matlock and Matlock Bath offer a wide choice of places to eat, drink and shop. Scale the Heights of Abraham in a cable car or spend the day Exploring the Crich Tramway Museum. There is an attraction for everyone here whether you want to go underground at the Peak District Lead Mining Museum, meet the animals at Matlock Farm Park or scream with delight on the rides at Gulliver's Kingdom. Slightly further afield, but still under an hour's drive from The Escape, Alton Towers' rides are even more exhilarating!

Although The Escape feels wonderfully rural and remote, it is only a mile from the A6, giving easy access to places like Bakewell and Chatsworth. Bakewell is fantastic for eating out as it has a wide variety of independent pubs and cafes as well as bakeries selling the town's famous dessert, the Bakewell pudding. The regular market, which has run weekly since 1330 and is the only one of its type in the Peak District, hosts around 140 stalls every Monday. Nearby, Chatsworth House is unmissable, and you should set aside an entire day to marvel at the sumptuous interiors with its breathtaking collections, as well as the beautiful grounds, shops, farmyard and playground. If stately homes tickle your fancy then Bolsover Castle, Haddon Hall and the Hardwick Estate are all nearby.

Cycling is a fantastic way to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and a choice of places provide bikes to hire if you do not bring yours with you on holiday. There is a range of routes to suit all abilities including the Monsal Trail, Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail. If you spend your days walking or cycling hills and valleys, then you will be happy to return to The Escape with a hot tub and soak your muscles so you have the energy to do it again the following day.

The Escape is aptly named as it provides guests with a wonderful opportunity to leave their everyday stresses and concerns behind and relax in a comfortable environment with family and friends.

Accommodation Comprises:

The Escape is beautifully finished and furnished to a high standard both inside and out. Accommodation is over two stories.

Ground Floor:

  • There is no point going on holiday with your nearest and dearest if you have to take turns spending time together, which is why the owners have ensured there is ample seating for ten people in the comfortable living room. Sit down and chat, or settle back and enjoy watching the 50-inch television which has a full package of Sky channels, including films and sport. The property also has WiFi.
  • The kitchen is a welcoming space that makes cooking a pleasure. It has two ovens and a six-burner gas stove so that preparing meals for ten people is not a chore. An additional fridge/freezer is handy for storing food, while a dishwasher makes clearing up fast and simple.
  • Off the kitchen, a long dining room has a table and chairs for everyone. The house has central heating, and both the dining and living rooms have a gas stove for added warmth and ambience. There is also a TV in the dining room to keep the kids happy.
  • A downstairs twin bedroom is of dual aspect, with glass doors that open onto the paved patio area. It has two single beds and a tall wardrobe and is next to the cloakroom with a WC and handbasin. Guests using this room also have access to the changing room for the hot tub (with large shower, WC and wash basin) which is adjacent outside and accessed via the glass doors.
  • Upstairs:

  • The master bedroom is spacious and relaxing, with a comfortable king-sized bed and ample storage. The ensuite has both a walk-in shower (double-size) and a jacuzzi bath, as well as a WC and handbasin.
  • A second ensuite bedroom is a lovely twin room that is ideal for either adults or children. It is a corner room with windows on two sides and benefits from an ensuite with a shower over a jacuzzi bath, WC and handbasin.
  • There is a second double room with king-sized bed, fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers next to the family bathroom.
  • Also near the bathroom is the remaining bedroom, which has 3-ft bunk beds and is a good choice for children.
  • The upstairs family bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, WC and hand basin.
  • Outside: There is a private, paved patio area at the rear of The Escape where there is seating and a table for ten people, as well as a barbecue. A luxurious outdoor hot-tub is sheltered by a thatched gazebo which also has benches and stools for a taste of a Caribbean bar in the Peak District. The Escape is designed for relaxing and having fun. A separate conservatory has a games room with seating and a place to play, as well as an extra space for changing, and a WC and shower. The Escape has private off-street parking for four or five cars and Electric car charging point.

Additional Information: All utilities, bed linen and towels for use in the cottage are provided (please bring your own towels for use in the hot tub - or hire them at £4 each when booking), and beds will be made up for guests' arrival. Short breaks (minimum of three nights) are possible all year round depending on availability. Smoking is not permitted inside The Escape. Sorry but no dogs.
