Guests have consistently praised The Beeches for its cleanliness, comfort, and beautiful location in the Peak District. The cottage is well-equipped and offers a peaceful garden, with many finding it an excellent base for sightseeing. The owners are commended for their attentiveness and helpfulness. Some minor suggestions for improvements were noted, but overall, guests enjoyed their stays and would recommend the property.
The property is repeatedly described as very clean and spotless, with only one mention of a non-working hoover, which suggests a high level of cleanliness overall.
The location is praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with easy access to local sights and walks. It is described as perfect for peace and quiet, and a great base for exploring the Peak District.
Reviewers find the cottage cosy, warm, and comfortable, with comfy beds and a spacious kitchen. The secure garden adds to the comfort for those with pets.
Facilities are generally well-received, with all essentials available. However, there are suggestions for a welcome booklet, a review book, and mentions of a non-working hoover and an inaccessible dishwasher, indicating room for improvement.
The owners are noted for their attentiveness and for providing a welcoming bottle of wine and snacks for the dogs, which reflects thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, this should be considered a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.
Winster 3.1 miles. The Beeches is a lovely, contemporary, detached dormer bungalow next to a working dairy farm and surrounded by beautiful countryside in the village of Aldwark, near Winster in Derbyshire. The Beeches is tastefully-finished throughout, making it perfect for a group of friends or family to enjoy this fabulous area of the Peak District National Park. The two double bedrooms are situated on the ground floor with a bathroom next door, making it suitable for a member of the group who is less mobile. The twin bedroom is on the first floor and benefits from an en-suite shower room as well as lovely views across the farm and surrounding countryside. The sleek kitchen has everything you need including a very useful breakfast bar with stools ideal for feeding little ones (and big ones for that matter!). There’s an inviting sitting room with a tasteful, glowing woodburning stove and a large dining table ideal for a banquet. From here, patio windows open out to the enclosed garden that wraps around the cottage so there’s always a chance to catch the sun wherever you are. There’s a porch for hanging kit and boots or drying off Fido and there’s also a secure shed if you wish to take bikes with you. It’s a perfect place to chill out, however there are loads of choices to make your stay action packed with plenty of walks including the High Peak Trail and the historic Minninglow planting, just a short hop from the property. The beautiful village of Winster and the heritage rich Cromford are easily reached by car, whilst the activities of Carsington Water are also located just a few miles away. Alternatively, for a good day out, head to Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath, as well as Matlock, Bakewell, Monsal Head, and the picturesque town of Ashbourne, known as the Gateway to the Dales. Other places nearby and well-worth visiting are Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House, and Kedleston Hall. For even more enjoyment, a little further afield you’ll find Alton Towers, which will provide fun for all. The Beeches provides relaxing accommodation in a splendid part of the country, making it a great base for a family holiday any time of the year.
The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.

Everything was exactly as described, a couple of issues with the central heating were resolved very quickly and efficiently. Thank you again.
Mike
Almost faultless other than hot water in bath and shower not hot enough, also dishwasher a little inaccessible. Had a lovely stay and would easily recommend to anyone.
Margaret
Very comfortable accommodation, met all our needs. Comfy beds (fab bed linen!), good shower, very well equipped spacious kitchen. Excellent heating and hot water. Good strong dining chairs and table. Generous sofa space and TV (nice to have on the fog day). Lovely location, very practical, secure garden. Useful outhouse and hose for bike. Particularly liked roomy porch for drying dog feet and changing boots. Altogether, couldn't fault it. Really hope we get to come again.
