About this property

Church View is a delightful Victorian period mid-terraced property nestling in the leafy spa town of Buxton and situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District. Get comfortable in the lounge, featuring two leather settees you can sink into and enjoy the gentle warmth of an open fire whilst you stream your favourite movie on Netflix or Amazon TV.

Set the large kitchen table in the dining room for a hearty feast whilst the house chef takes over the farmhouse style kitchen and conjures up something special. Off the kitchen is a handy utility room with microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Head outside to the rear courtyard, take a seat and enjoy a properly brewed coffee Nespresso style or a glass of wine and soak up the sunshine.

Take the stairs to the first floor and discover two bedrooms, including a king-size master and twin or freshen up in the family bathroom before sampling the Buxton nightlife. Venture up another set of stairs to reach the second floor, complete with a double bedroom and a gaming space with TV and console; ideal for children.

When you fancy eating out you will be spoilt for choice with a host of fantastic restaurants, both on the Market Place, not more than a walk away, or in the cultural quarter of Buxton where you’ll find the Opera House, a variety of restaurants and a host of independent pubs and wine bars.

Explore Victorian Pavilion Gardens with boating lake, children’s play areas and Park Railway. Marvel at John Carrs magnificent Georgian Crescent or visit Buxton Museum and Art Gallery or The Devonshire Dome with one of the largest unsupported domes in Europe.

Church View is a great place to soak up the atmosphere of the Buxton Festival scene including a world-renowned programme of Opera, the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and hot on the heels of Edinburgh, Buxton’s very own growing Fringe Festival.

Discover quaint independent shops cafes and bistros, go underground at Pooles Cavern or swing from the trees with Go Ape at Buxton Country Park.

Take a stroll to Solomon's Temple or enjoy the great outdoors climbing at the Roaches, Stanage and Curbar Edges or hiking and walking at numerous beautiful locations across the wider Peak District National Park - all within easy reach of this central location.

There’s sailing, paddle boarding and canoeing at Tittesworth and Carsington Waters where you can also hire equipment and instruction or relax after a wild mountain bike ride in front of the open fire; secure in the knowledge your bikes are safe in the bike store.

Head to Bakewell by car, where you can sample a real Bakewell Pudding or take a tour of the magnificent Chatsworth House with landscaped gardens, fountains, its unique Christmas Market and children’s farmyard and play area.

Round off your holiday with a trip to Matlock, boasting the stunning Lumsdale Waterfall, the Peak District Mining Museum, Matlock Bath Aquarium, Gulliver's Kingdom, and The Heights of Abraham or enjoy the white-knuckle rides of Alton Towers.

Choose Church View for a memorable retreat and to explore Buxton, Derbyshire, and the Peak District National Park.

The eight thermal springs in Buxton have a constant temperature of 28 degrees centigrade, which is what first drew the Romans to the area. The beautiful semicircular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House were all conceived and constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries, though, under the patronage of succeeding Dukes of Devonshire. These spectacular structures and grounds, as well as the Opera House's full schedule and yearly festivals of music and the arts, are still enjoyed by visitors today. With rocky peaks to the north and mild slopes and dales to the south, the area is well-suited for walking. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the charming towns and villages that can be found there. Visitors to this region must view the magnificent homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both of which are accessible by car. excellent starting point for Peak District exploration.

Curtains in the front bedroom need a blackout blind or equivalent to block out day light or street light 2. Freezer space would be advantageous - we hadn't realised and our shop resulted in some food being thrown out. I see others have commented on Car parking outside the house but this was not a problem - clearly the Vets close by attracts a lot of short term visitors which may make it more difficult

We loved the open fire and the much appreciated complimentary basket of kindling/logs. The thoughtful welcome basket of edible goodies was also appreciated. Church View was ideally situated for all the shops restaurants and parks in the area - all of which were in walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely revisit if in the area.
