The Cottage in Buxton is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cleanliness, stunning views, and dog-friendly amenities. Guests appreciate the secure garden and the field for dogs to play. The property's location is ideal for exploring the Peak District, with many finding it a comfortable and cosy base. Some guests noted the furniture could be more comfortable and modernised, and the lack of Wi-Fi and washing machine was mentioned. However, the warm welcome from the hosts and the property's charm seem to have left a lasting positive impression.

The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with several reviews highlighting its tidiness upon arrival. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experiences of the guests.

The location is frequently praised for its stunning views and proximity to local attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. However, some guests noted the presence of road noise and the absence of a nearby shop, slightly affecting the score.

While many guests found the cottage cosy and the views delightful, there are several mentions of uncomfortable sofas and beds, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

The property is well-equipped, but some guests missed amenities such as Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a more powerful shower. The absence of these facilities has been noted as an inconvenience, impacting the overall experience.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness based on the available information.

There is a footpath accessible from the rear of the property, but did mean walking our dogs through a field of cows - which potentially could be problematic for some people. We ate regularly at the Devonshire Arms in Peak Forest. It is within walking distance, but unfortunately the local council has not maintained the footpath beside the busy main road. We therefore had to drive to the pub each time, which was a shame.

The enclosed garden and adjacent field were perfect for the dog to stretch his legs. The situation is perfect to explore The Peak District, we had some lovely walks and nearby Buxton, Chatsworth and Bakewell are well worth a visit. We'll be back I'm sure!

Parking area spacious but there is a bit of a walk with your luggage. No welcome pack or spare toilet rolls so make sure you have all you need. Huge field at the end of the garden for exercising one’s dog. The garden is enclosed but not secure, the field is enclosed but not secure. The location described on the Sykes map is totally inaccurate, as is the What3words address given. You can’t walk to the pub along the road to the pub as it is very busy. There are footpaths either side but some stiles require fit people and fit dogs. The cottage was quite well furnished but lack of Wi-Fi could be an issue. The beds were very firm and the sofa very soft. The double bedroom was very cramped with a bedside table on one side only . I think with a bit of thought and some smart furniture changes, this could be remedied. We had a fantastic meal at The Bulls Head in Foolow and fish and chips at Tideswell, very dog-friendly area, even got invited into the deli with the dog for a treat.
