Guests say

Eboracum is a well-received holiday cottage in Hope Valley, praised for its high standard of renovation, cleanliness, and modern decor. Guests appreciate its great location for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to local attractions and walks. The property is described as comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches like an EV charger. Some minor criticisms include the layout of the en-suite and early check-out time, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience.

Most guests found Eboracum to be immaculate and spotlessly clean. However, one review mentioned that some kitchen equipment was dirty upon arrival, suggesting room for improvement in ensuring consistency in cleanliness.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to Hathersage, beautiful views, and accessibility to local attractions and walks in the Peak District, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Guests describe the property as comfortable, with luxurious carpets and great facilities. Some minor discomfort was noted with the dining chairs and the size of the single bedroom, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The property is commended for its well-equipped kitchen and amenities like an EV charger. However, there were comments about the en-suite layout, a small staircase area, and a need for maintenance on the dishwasher, indicating some areas for improvement.

While the reviews reflect that the owners have been thoughtful in equipping the property, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Tear yourself away from your newfound haven to the local village of Hathersage where you’ll be spoilt for choice of shops and eateries. Head to Restaurant at The Scotsmans Pack for a classic, hearty pub meal, Hathersage Kitchen by Evangeline for some alfresco dining when the sun is shining or Cintra's Tearoom with its buttery pastries and fragrant teas. If you’re feeling brave enough, walk over to Peak Cavern, the UK's largest cave entrance, for underground tours of cave networks. Then drive to the stunning city of Sheffield to stroke the alpacas and feed the meerkats at Mayfield Alpacas Animal Park, visit the Winter Garden, a breathtaking glasshouse, home to over 2,000 plant specimens from around the world, and end the day with an educational trip to Weston Park Museum with its interactive exhibits and fight away the ducks while you picnic at Weston Park. Endless experiences at adventures await you at Eboracum.

The attractive village of Hathersage (‘Heathers Edge’) is situated within the Peak District National Park at the beginning of the Hope Valley and close to excellent walking at Edale. Many visitors come to Hathersage to visit the churchyard and the grave of “Little John” (of Robin Hood fame) - whether he ever really existed is for you to decide! Charlotte Bronte’s famous novel Jane Eyre is thought to have been inspired by her visit to Hathersage vicarage in 1845. For a village of its size there is a very good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat, as well as a public, open air heated swimming pool and railway station. A great centre for exploring the Peak District!

The property has everything you could want for the perfect stay.

The ample gardens around the house are well maintained and if you have good weather the outdoor furniture is a real bonus. There's lots to do in the area, with many attractions like Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton and the Blue John mine (and others) nearby. There's no end of local walks: short, long, easy or challenging if you're so inclined. It's only a short walk into Hathersage, where there are plenty of eating places and handy shops, The house is up a short incline, but nothing too strenuous. We had a fantastic break there and can highly recommend the property.
