Better acquaint yourself with your surroundings by taking a leisurely stroll into the village of Castleton, where popular tourist spots such as the Cave Dale, Peak Cavern, and the National Trust - Dark Peak await eager travellers. The settlement is popular with hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts who want to follow the trails, ascend the Winnats Pass, or try caving. The stunning semi-precious stone Blue John, which can only be found and mined in Castleton, is recognised across the world for its tourist caves. Castleton has a fantastic selection of unique little gift stores, pubs, tea rooms, and a fantastic tourist centre with a small museum illustrating life in the Hope Valley. Moreover, the Christmas lights and holiday events are especially well-liked by visitors in December. The charming settlements of Edale, where the Pennine Way begins, Hope, and Hathersage—which has a seasonal outdoor pool—are close by. Visit Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House for an amazing day trip, or spend the day at Alton Towers.
