Guests say

The Old Post Office at Holmfirth is highly praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, including a hot tub and games room. The property's location in the scenic Peak District is ideal, with local amenities within walking distance. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is delightful, with a friendly host adding to the charm.

Reviews frequently mention the property being extremely clean upon arrival, with spotless rooms and quality furnishings. However, a few guests noted instances of rubbish, dust, and cobwebs, slightly detracting from the overall high standards of cleanliness.

The property's location is consistently praised for its convenience and beauty, being situated in the Peak District with local amenities like pubs and shops within easy reach. The proximity to Holmfirth centre and the scenic surroundings contribute to its high location score.

Guests find the property comfortable, with cosy rooms, comfortable beds, and a warm atmosphere. The presence of en-suites and a spacious dining area adds to the comfort level. Some guests mentioned issues with hot water and radiator, but these are relatively isolated incidents.

The property boasts excellent facilities, including a hot tub, outdoor seating, and a games room. Two dishwashers and a range cooker are appreciated by guests. However, maintenance issues such as a blocked drain, a faulty washing machine, and empty shower gel dispensers have led to a slightly lower score.

While guests mention a thoughtful welcome gift, there is not enough consistent information about the provision of gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for all stays.

Cosy, sociable, and full of thoughtful touches, The Old Post Office at Holmfirth truly is your home away from home.

On the edge of the West Yorkshire Pennines, in the picturesque Holme Valley, is the historic, traditional Pennine town of Holmfirth. Holmfirth, made popular by the television series The Last of the Summer Wine, is not only Compo and Nora Batty's stocking town! The best live music venue in the North of England, the "Picturedrome," is in the heart of the city and draws many well-known bands. The 2014 Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire pelotons both passed through this small Holme Valley village on their way up the famous 524-meter Holme Moss climb, which is located two miles away. Cycling's three-time Olympic medalist Ed Clancy was raised on these hills.

Outdoor dining area would be great in warmer weather.

Farmers pub round the corner is welcoming, elephant & the castle in town is also really nice. Lovely village and all 10 of us (ages 4 - 76) had a lovely Xmas there!

Every where was scrupulously clean, including all the crockery and glasses. Parking is easy at the house, though it's only about a 10 minute walk down into Holmfirth and there is a bus back up the big hill . There's also an excellent pub (The Farmers Arms) just around the corner.
