Guests say

Goldcrest is a highly praised cottage in Meerbrook, lauded for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and stunning location. Guests consistently commend the property's suitability for large groups, the beautiful garden, and the proximity to local attractions and walks. The welcoming host and thoughtful touches, such as a bottle of wine, contribute to the property's charm. While Wi-Fi connectivity is noted as a minor issue, the overall experience is celebrated as perfect for family and group holidays.

Reviewers consistently mention the cleanliness of the property, describing it as spotless and well-maintained, which indicates a high standard of cleanliness throughout.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions, including the Lazy Trout Pub, Tittesworth Reservoir, and walking routes like The Roaches.

Guests find the property comfortable, with ample space, cosy bedrooms, and underfloor heating. The large living and dining areas are appreciated for group gatherings.

The property is well-equipped with a range of amenities, though there are some comments about dated furniture and the need for additional kitchen equipment. The mention of a sewerage issue in one review suggests a slight deduction for maintenance.

The host's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with welcome gifts such as wine and chocolates. However, it's important to note that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A superb detached stone barn conversion, on a former working farm near Leek, with underfloor heating, open fire and impressive full-length window with wonderful countryside views. One of three cottages, this property is next to Refs. 3563 and 3565, together they sleep 33.

The village of Meerbrook is on the edge of a popular walking area known as the Roaches, and is just four miles from the market town of Leek. Meerbrook is a short walk away from Tittesworth reservoir, which offers many activities and has a visitor's centre. Buxton is only 12 miles away and has a wider choice of places to eat and an interesting selection of shops. The town's museum is well worth a visit as is the Opera House, with its wide variety of entertainment on offer. Lovely rooms with a cosy atmosphere. Plenty of parking. We happily consumed the welcome gift of wine and chocolates. Suzanne, the owner, popped in to check we were OK and that we had everything we needed. Good communication, we were sent directions to find the property as the Sat Nav would take you to the next farm. Looking for an excuse to stay again.
