It feels remote and rural with no neighbours for a country mile, but Buxton is only a 20 minute drive and Leek is even closer. The house is a former pub and built for hospitality and entertaining, making it ideal for extended family celebrations, hen and stag weekends, and fun team building events.

Mermaid Inn has a long history of hospitality, having previously welcomed guests as a popular pub. There is nowhere better to host a large get-together with your extended family, friends or colleagues than this large self-contained holiday accommodation in the Peak District National Park, which sleeps up to 34 people in 13 beautiful ensuite bedrooms. The elevated location is close to Buxton and Leek, affording fantastic views of the surrounding hills and countryside.

The Peak District is a holiday location for all seasons. The area around Mermaid Inn is ideal for walking and bike rides, with guests having access to an extensive network of footpaths, including one leading to nearby Mermaid Pool or a longer walk along Morridge. The Roaches are only a fifteen-minute drive from the property, while the Peak Districts many country houses and gardens, including those at Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, offer gentle alternatives to those who enjoy a view but don't have the time or the legs for fell walking.

Although Mermaid Inn feels wonderfully remote, it is only 10-minutes from the market town of Leek and just 20-minutes from the magnificent Georgian buildings of Buxton. There is a wealth of places to shop, eat and drink. There are four major supermarkets from which to choose (Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda and Tesco) all of which deliver to the house to make your holiday even easier to plan. Bakewell is half an hour's drive away, providing even more choice of independent shops, restaurants, and a weekly market with more than 150 stalls.

Local Peak District attractions include Tittesworth Reservoir and visitors' centre, Blaze Farm, Alton Towers, and the Churnet Valley Railway. Mermaid Inn is a favourite with hen and stag parties and the owner can provide details of companies who can arrange guided walks and mountain bike rides, clay pigeon shooting, ballooning, fishing and a host of other outdoor activities as well as in-house spa days, cooking or cocktail making sessions, even murder mystery weekends and casino nights.

Accommodation Comprises:

The oldest part of Mermaid Inn dates from 1651 and the former pub has lots of Grade II listed period features like thick stone walls and exposed beams. Accommodation is split over two levels.

Downstairs:

Incredible dining room with enormous windows overlooking some of the best views of the Peak District. The table seats 34 people and is perfect for group dining. A wood burning stove and stereo system make it a comfortable room for parties and events.

Three reception/living rooms including a games room with its own bar, pool table, table football, darts and Karaoke. The rooms have comfortable seating, with two having televisions. The rooms work well for socialising as a group while still providing quiet space for those wanting a peaceful moment.

Spacious kitchen well-equipped for group catering with plenty of storage and space to prepare food. There are two ovens, two four-burner hobs and two dishwashers, as well as a separate larder. The owners of Mermaid Inn can recommend local catering firms if you want help with daily cooking or a special meal.

Six of the property's 13 bedrooms are downstairs. Every room has an ensuite and the beds are made up with high-quality bed linen for guests' arrival.

Five downstairs bedrooms can be set up either as twin rooms with two full-sized single beds, or large doubles.

The remaining bedroom is a quad/family room, with a double bed and bunk beds.

Upstairs:

Seven further ensuite bathrooms are upstairs. There are four twin/double rooms and three quad/family rooms. Six ensuites have showers and one has a shower over a bath.

Outside: Mermaid Inn has a massive 30 x 10 metre garden with lots of space to play games or lie about and relax. There are picnic tables and a barbecue so guests can eat outside in the summer and make the most of the fantastic views, and there is parking for 20 cars.

Additional Information: Short breaks are available all year round. All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and towels are provided. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior agreement (a charge of £30 per dog for the duration of the stay is charged). Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
