Lovely and clean, nice surroundings and overall very pretty.

Beautiful part of rural Susex, and a fairly well designed unit. But some minor maintenance isues (ripped duvet cover, dirty grouting in shower, bad drainage from shower and hand basin). Also, its not clear from the information given that there is another property right next door and behind. No privacy, (like living in a goldfish bowl) and we had a load of washing hung on a line right by our deck! Also bothered a lot with flies

The cottage was originally fitted out to a high standard as can be seen in the kitchen and bathroom, however it seems that the owner (who lives abroad for half the year) has taken their eye off the ball. On arrival the bathroom lights only worked intermittently, occasionally leaving the room in darkness as there is no window. The following day, when we had eventually contacted the owner (via the booking agency as they were not in the country), he stated that he was aware of the fault. We were rather taken aback that it was available for rent with such a basic fault. The owner did arrange for a repair that day. He also replaced a room fan as the one in the property was both faulty and too filthy to use. The cottage gets very hot when it is sunny and the fan is necessary. We were also very disappointed by the level of cleanliness in the bathroom, with lots of black and orange mould on the silicone and grout in the shower. This really should be cleaned off. There were lovely thick towels to use, and the duvet cover was a good quality but had holes in it and so should be replaced. Also, the armchairs are getting threadbare. There was no information pack in the cottage with e.g. wifi password, local shops, doctors etc. This could be a great cottage and probably has been in the past: it feels like profitability is more important than providing a great visitor experience, but get the second one right and the first follows. Would we go back? Probably not. It is a quiet location which we chose because of the number of public rights of way immediately accessible. Unfortunately, they were generally unusable due to high crops or simply being overgrown; neither the local landowners nor the council/local walking groups make an attempt to keep the paths clear.
