Excellent bungalow. Very clean and comfortable. Close to a nice local pub, restaurants and takeaways. Short walk to Pevensey with it's castle (entry fee applies), gaol, mint house (both free entry) and two nice pubs. Would recommend for a break away. Ideal for toddlers as it's all on one level and has a big garden.

We stayed here to be close to family in the area. We had a lovely time at Dougies Retreat, it was very comfortable. We loved how close it was to a great pub The Castle (less than 2 min walk), the Tackle shop, the takeaways & restaurants (2 mins too) and the sea front. Lovely quiet area with really friendly neighbours. The garden is well equipped for dining, with a BBQ supplied. We would have preferred a dining table rather than the breakfast bench in the conservatory, but other than that this is a very comfortable property and very well equipped. Great off road parking for at least 3 cars. Great speed wifi. The host communication was fantastic and helped us with a couple of questions we had very promptly. Nice welcome hamper (although fresh milk rather than a limited number of sachets would have been preferred). No dishwasher but there is an iron board, iron, washing machine, line, washing basket and pegs provided which we used. Hassle free check-in with the key box. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

We spent a lovely long weekend at Dougies Retreat. A two minute stroll to the local shops and restaurants and a four minute stroll to the beach. The bungalow is in a quiet close, well laid out and very clean. A welcome pack was ready for us (the bottle of bubbly was very appropriate as it was our golden wedding anniversary), coffee, tea, milk and sugar just right to revive us after a long journey. Everything you could possibly need in the very modern kitchen with super cooker and microwave (instructions on the pinboard were very helpful) and a cosy dining sunroom. Fridge needs a defrost but that was the only negative. Great wi-fi and Freeview and Netflix on the television. Beds really comfortable, lovely sized sitting room, super shower in modern bathroom - and we even found fresh fruit in the garden (apples, pears and grapes). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, have already recommended it to others and will continue to do so, and we will hopefully come and enjoy Dougies Retreat again.Thanks to the owner for a memorable stay.
