The twice-weekly markets (Wednesday and Saturday) and monthly Farmers Market (first Sunday) are the perfect places to buy food and drink for your self-catering stay. There's a good choice of places to dine out when you don't want to cook, two specialist museums, and lots of independent shops. The Petersfield Music Festival takes place over a week in March. The event is one of the oldest of its kind in England, first taking place in 1901.

The route is multi-purpose and accessible to cyclists and horse riders who use it to explore 105 miles between Winchester and Eastbourne. If you enjoy mountain biking, you'll appreciate the Queen Elizabeth Country Park trails which are a 5 minute ride away. And both kinds of horsepower are celebrated at Goodwood with horse racing, the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, and a calendar of other exciting events, including the Goodwood Revival.
