Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the spotless condition of East Lodge, with several highlighting the five-star cleanliness. The property's upkeep appears to be of a high standard, contributing to guests' overall satisfaction.

The property's location is praised for its peacefulness and proximity to local attractions, including the New Forest and a welcoming pub within walking distance. However, a few guests noted the presence of a nearby road, which slightly impacted their experience.

Guests frequently describe their stays as comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy log fire, quality linen, and the provision of a cot and high chair for families. The comfortable bed and underfloor heating also contribute to the high comfort level experienced by visitors.

The facilities at East Lodge are well-received, with guests appreciating the well-stocked kitchen, quality furnishings, and the added convenience of a secure garden for pets. Some minor suggestions for improvements prevent a perfect score, but overall, the facilities meet and often exceed expectations.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident through the consistent mention of welcome packs, which include items like scones, jam, and fresh eggs. While these gifts greatly enhance the guest experience, it is noted that such extras, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

I

Rockbourne is an attractive country village, home to many tourist destinations, such as The New Forest which is one of England’s oldest and remaining forests which has officially been named a National Park. It offers many bridle and cycle paths and plenty of wildlife to spot such as the famous wild ponies. It is only a 20 mile drive from the historic Cathedral City of Salisbury and Fordingbridge is a few miles away which provides the nearest shopping centre. Not to forget the local store and pub a short distance away from your accommodation.

Everything we needed was at hand. The lodge was spacious, clean and cosy. It was a hot few days so we could sit outside on the patio after our walks. Very close to a road though, that was quite busy. Lots of information about places to visit so ideally located. The 35 min walk to the Cartwheel pub was a delight over scenic fields at harvest time. The food at the pub was more Michelin star than pub grub so we went two nights on the trot. Highly recommended. All in all a wonderful 4 nights stay

Lots of little touches such as a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and welcoming bundle. Ideally situated to explore the new forest and surrounding areas. Cosy comfortable base to come home to. Had a wonderful relaxing time.

First the good points: The cottage was very clean, the huge bed was very comfortable, the cooking equipment and tableware was of high quality, it has a lovely bathroom with a wide deep bath and excellent shower over, a lovely bbq was supplied along with tools, some nice scones, jam, cream and milk welcomed us, the cottage has excellent wifi, the owners contacted us during our stay to see if we’d settled in. Now the not so good points: It wasn’t made clear in the listing that West Park was out of bounds to cottage guests, tv was small and didn’t work initially although this was rectified quickly, the couch was sagging and not comfortable, there were lots of cupboards but not much space to put our food as they were mostly holding cookware etc., there wasn’t much in the way of cleaning products we could have done with some toilet cleaner, the road at the side was noisy with traffic, the surrounding roads were narrow with no pavements so dangerous for walkers, the road in Fordingbridge was closed necessitating a huge detour (this obviously wasn’t the fault of the owners though but it did detract from our holiday), the nearest pub was shut (but again not the fault of the owners). I think we chose a bad week to stay. Conclusion We enjoyed a restful break in a reasonably comfortable quirky cottage but due to the things we’ve listed we probably won’t return.
