An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds Lymington, ranging from the heathlands and historic woodlands of the New Forest to the coastal nature reserves that stretch about five miles and stop at the shingle spit where Henry viii's Hurst Castle, completed in 1554, is located. From Lymington, it is possible to go to the New Forest, the Isle of Wight, and the Hampshire coast.
