The surrounding countryside forms some of the best in the area moving from pastoral farmland between the village and the sea to the open heathland of the New Forest National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Well known for its excellent walking and being the ideal place to enjoy tranquil days out, with rambling, cycling and golf available.

Wild ponies and cattle roam the lanes and streets, and there are many picturesque villages to discover with gift shops, cafés, and restaurants serving cream teas. There are beautiful sandy swimming beaches to visit at Bournemouth, Sandbanks Studland Bay, the nearest being at Milford-on-Sea with glorious views to the Isle of Wight as well as a range of superb restaurants, a wine bar and deli clustered around the village green. The historic market town of Lymington is just over 2 miles to the east and has many boutiques, eateries, ice cream parlours, tea rooms and inns. It also has crazy golf, great fun for all the family, and is known for its cobbled streets leading down to the quayside with a delightful old harbour. There is also a mainline railway station at Brockenhurst approximately 7 miles to the north which provides direct services to London Waterloo. Beach 2¼ miles.

The owner got in touch before we arrived to send us a house manual with a list of dos and don'ts and warnings about being quiet after 9pm and being considerate to neighbours. This was fine, but didn't make us feel that relaxed - or welcome! He mentioned in passing that the table tennis table wasn't available, as previous guests had broken it - but that was one of the reasons we booked the house, so that was disappointing. And the table tennis table is still mentioned on the Cottages.com website and in photos, which is misleading. The photos and description should be removed. The owner did then provide a garden badminton game, which we appreciated. The house was very nice. It was finished to a high standard and was very comfortable: nice couches, comfortable beds, nice outdoor furniture. The addition of fans was a nice touch by the owner, as when we were there it was roasting!I know it might seem a minor point, but there was an empty cupboard in the kitchen for food, which was really handy. So many holiday homes have no empty kitchen cupboards...The house is ideally located: within easy reach of the New Forest, beaches, Lymington, etc., etc. We could have stayed for two weeks and not run out of things to do! We enjoyed days out to Brownsea Island, Milford on Sea, Beaulieu, Avon Beach and the New Forest.A lovely, clean holiday home that was perfect for our holiday with adult children. Thank you.
