About this property

Cowes 4.3 miles. This contemporary lodge sits on the Thorness Bay Holiday Park in Great Thorness, a few miles from Cowes. Offering off-road parking and a wrap-around decking from where you can enjoy views to Thorness Bay, this contemporary lodge is a first-class base for families looking to experience the Isle of Wight. After a day of exploring, look forward to kicking back in the open-plan living space, with ample seating and a TV so everyone can enjoy a catch-up together. The kitchen comes well-equipped, enticing those budding chefs with a gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a washing machine, so you won’t have to pack your whole wardrobe. At the rear of this lodge rests the bedrooms, including a double with TV and en-suite shower, while there is also a charming twin. Completing the interior is the family bathroom, where you can while away the hours with a deep soak or freshen up with a quick rinse before tackling the day. On-site there are a handful of amenities; take a splash in the indoor pool, compete in a game on the multi-sports court or get the little ones involved in the adventure playground and kids club! If you don’t fancy cooking one evening, treat the group to a meal at The Boathouse Bar and Restaurant, where its balcony and outdoor seating provide wonderful views over the Solent. There’s weekly entertainment in the entertainment hall, an amusement arcade and fish and chip shop if you fancy a quick bite, enjoy beautiful sea views and the pebbly beach is a short stroll away. Hop in the car and head to Cowes, providing everything that you could wish for and more, with a variety of places to shop, eat and drink, along with fascinating museums and a glorious sandy beach, there is something to do for everybody. For days out, see 200 animals at the Amazon World Zoo, explore the heritage of Carisbrooke Castle or partake in a tour of the former Royal residency of Osborne House. The whole of the Isle of Wight is easily accessible, from the delightful towns and villages to the rural Isle of Wight AONB and the Hamstead Heritage Coast for you outdoor lovers. All of this and much more awaits at Coast View Lodge.

Cowes, a busy port at the mouth of the Medina River, is actually two separate towns that are connected by a chain ferry that operates regularly. Both towns have plenty to offer tourists, but West Cowes stands out as a premier yachting destination thanks to its proximity to the island's ferry terminal and its abundance of first-rate watersports facilities. There's a beach and tonnes of great eateries, hotels, and boutiques to explore, so everyone in your group is sure to have a great time. Osborne House, Queen Victoria's Italianate country retreat, can be found in East Cowes, and it is highly recommended that visitors take a tour of the lavish royal apartments and beautiful gardens. Cowes is a great starting point for exploring the rest of the Isle of Wight, which is home to sandy beaches, beautiful walking country, picture-perfect chines, and numerous kid-friendly attractions like The Needles and the Isle of Wight Festival.

Comfortable enjoyable stay, would have benefited from having a guide on how to use items such as the fire and digital box (none of the TV apps worked) and would have appreciated knowing in advance that there wasn’t any hand soap toilet roll or washing up liquid but didn’t impact us greatly as site shop was open

A very comfortable and spacious chalet static with a great view. We found it very clean and comfortable with only minor niggles such as the plugs not fitting in the basins. We ate a couple of times in the Park Dean facilities which was fine with plenty of activities for kids. Would imagine in height of school holidays that it gets very busy and noisy. Nice short walk down to the beach which although not great for swimming, was lovely to take a chair down and sit in the evening sun. Site was quiet enough mid week to spot a red squirrel and a hare!
