Guests say

Red Squirrel Lodge is a spacious and well-equipped cottage, praised for its accessibility, peaceful setting, and welcoming hosts. Guests particularly enjoyed the wildlife, especially the red squirrels, and appreciated the thoughtful welcome packs. The property is ideal for families and those with mobility needs. While most found the lodge clean and comfortable, a few noted some maintenance and cleanliness issues, and the proximity to a fast road means a car or public transport is needed. Overall, guests had enjoyable stays and would recommend the property.

Most guests found the property clean and bright, but a few mentioned issues such as cobwebs and areas that could have been cleaner, particularly in the en suite bedroom.

The lodge is in a peaceful, countryside setting with great wildlife views and is central for exploring the Isle of Wight. However, its position near a fast road means walking is limited and a car or bus is necessary.

Guests described the lodge as spacious and comfortable, with good beds and excellent accessibility for those with mobility needs. Some found the slatted beds tricky for adults and the en suite a bit cramped.

The property is well-equipped, especially for disabled guests, with a large wet room and accessible layout. Some outdoor furniture was in poor condition but was replaced, and a new BBQ was provided on request.

Many guests appreciated the generous welcome packs and festive touches, though it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed. Hosts were described as friendly and responsive to guests’ needs.

A spacious property well able to cope with wheelchair access. In a lovely country location. Access down a rough farm lane. Property surrounded with decking outside space is tight the table and chairs supplied were in very poor conditions, three chairs were broken, were replaced on the last night of our stay. Becaase there was no bbq facilities on site they had been removed the owner supplied a brand new gas bbq, for which we were very grateful, was used on the deck space at rear of property, the garden was not used as was not wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately the cleanliness left a lot to be desired inside. The on suite bedroom was not clean there were many cobwebs, the en suite facility is very small a toilet and shower with handbasin have been squeezed in to a small space so therefore very clostraphobic. Overall a disappointing property in a lovely location. Personally felt that as the property was placed on the market to sell earlier in the spring standards had slipped and the photos online were misleading to the actual size of the internal rooms.. for all the negatives we had a lovely holiday on the Isle of Wight

We had a lovely long weekend at Red Squirrel lodge. It is a great location from which to explore the Island and it is in a quiet, peaceful spot where you can relax and really see re squirrels in the garden. The amenities are very good and we will definitely come back in the future.

The accessibility of the Lodge is really excellent, with a large wet room, beds at the right height and plenty of space for easily moving around. We really loved watching the red squirrels coming to the feeder attached to the tree in the back garden, which was the highlight of a lovely stay. Our hosts were really helpful. We had a minor problem when we arrived and they sorted it immediately. The welcome pack is really generous and contains all the basics like milk, butter, bread and eggs to start you off as well as other goodies. We would love to go back.
