Little Lismoy is a spacious, mid-terraced holiday home situated right on Sandown’s seafront, offering fantastic views over one of the island’s favourite beaches. It has recently had a revamp with fresh paint, new carpets and the addition of new mattresses in each bedroom. Ideal for families, it has a bright and modern interior, full Sky TV package and is able to accommodate up to six people whilst also being dog and cat friendly too. This holiday home has a secure catio at the back on the house which provides and safe area for your beloved pets to roam.
Sandown is a truly traditional British beach resort with Pleasure Pier, pitch ‘n’ putt, zoo amusements, a children’s play area and the Dinosaur Isle attraction at the northern end of the esplanade towards Yaverland and Culver Cliff. The town is brimming with attractions to entertain visitors, most of them right on the beach front itself, so you never have to stray too far from the golden sands. The esplanade has a number of seaside cafés, beach and souvenir shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course. The beach has several places where you can hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks for you to create your own perfect spot on the beach. The High Street, which runs parallel to the beach and is a short walk from the property, has a selection of arty and tourist style shops along with supermarket chains, banks, pubs, cafés and restaurants.
Outdoor pursuits on the island are numerous and include riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages on this beautiful sunny island. The Needles landmark attraction is a ‘must see’, and is a short distance away to the west, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and Gardens, or perhaps Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK? Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle and the sailing towns of Yarmouth & Cowes are other recommendations. Shop 300 yards, pub 25 yards and restaurant 100 yards.

We were very disappointed when we arrived at Little Lismoy. The location is fantastic as it is right on the beachfront. However, the property is tired. there is no lock on the gate apart from a rusty old chain. The front garden bench is very weathered and worn and the uneven surface in the garden makes it difficult to access the property. On arrival, there was no information pack detailing how to switch on the heating, put the bins out, use the tv and what to do on exit etc. There was also no welcome pack consisting of a pint of milk and other little basic touches. We had to buy bleach to remove the mould from the downstairs shower and we didn’t even venture out into the rear yard, which was filthy. There was a lack of amenities such as a hairdryer, a clothes dryer even though there was a washing machine. The springs in the settee had gone and it made it very uncomfortable to sit on it. It says it is a cottage for six yet there are only four chairs at the dining table.The property was tired and neglected and needed some TLC.

Whilst I can not fault the location of the property - ideally situated with the beach across the road and town and pier just a few minutes walk away there were a significant number of small issues that impacted our stay. Most would be easy to change and improve the experiance of staying in this house.The house sleeps 6 however there were only 4 chairs for the dinning table and only 4 dinner plates! I couldn't find any trays to eat from instead of the table.There were many chipped bowls, mugs and plates which I left out and hope were not put back in the cupboard. Also had to wash the cutlery before use.The inside of the microwave is rusty and needs replacing. The light in the fridge was no coming on.There were unfortunately ants in both the conservatory- where the dinning table was and the kitchen which made preparing and putting food out challenging. I only found 4 hangers in the two large wardrobes! No bedside lamps in the bedrooms with the bunk beds. And the springs could be felt through the bedding on the bed I slept in.Whilst there was a good supply of clean towels there were no towel rails to leave bath towels to dry on.The garden bench was rotten, with a large chunk missing and therefore unusable. And as others have mentioned the stepping stones that leaf from the gate to the front door are uneven and therefore a trip hazard.There were also two canverse chairs in the catcage which were filthy. Whilst there is a table and chairs in the back yard it has no view and was overshadowed by the cage. The conservatory windows were dirty which meant the view out to sea was far less enjoyable. There was no welcome pack, which was mentioned in the cottage details. I did contact the owners to see if this had been forgotten as I am used to finding bread, milk at the very least in such properties. The response I received was 'We used to leave a sachet of washing up liquid and cloth with contact numbers and things to do on the island but from feedback we now leave cloth on draining board and booklets flyers.' I suggest the mention of a welcome pack is removed. There were no instructions for how to operate the TV or which of the 3 remote controls to use. No info on recycling or rubbish collection.

Hi arrived at Little Lismoy clean with everything you need. However the slabs in the front need levelling as I tripped and fell over. Also the stable door locks its self. So make sure the bottom lock is off and bring the back door key out with you, you can get round the back. We got locked out luckily we left the back bathroom window open downstairs, my son climbed in. Nice cottage but could do with a garden refresh.
