Lisle Combe Cottage is highly praised for its peaceful location, stunning views, and well-equipped amenities. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the beautiful garden, and the proximity to the coastal path. While some minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvement are noted, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a charming setting.
The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'spotlessly clean' and 'well presented'. The attention to cleanliness contributes positively to the guests' experiences.
The location is highly commended for its peacefulness and beautiful views, with direct access to the coastal path. The tranquillity and proximity to nature are consistently appreciated by guests.
Comfort receives a good score, although there are some remarks about uncomfortable sofas and beds. However, the peacefulness and relaxing atmosphere of the cottage seem to mitigate these concerns for most guests.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being described as well-equipped. However, there are comments about the lack of a DVD player, issues with a kettle, and suggestions for blackout blinds, indicating room for improvement.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the owner in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.
This picturesque, Island Stone cottage is hidden away on The Undercliff between St Lawrence and Ventnor, on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. As you step out of your car, you will feel a sense of calm at the sheer beauty and utter tranquillity of your surroundings. Inside, Lisle Combe Cottage is full of original character and charm, with beamed ceilings throughout the ground floor and stunning views from the spacious dining room, sitting room and kitchen. The kitchen is contemporary and has been cleverly designed to complement the many features of the original cottage. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, both with stunning coastal views. The larger bedroom has a super king-size bed, with the zip/link function of becoming two singles, while the other houses one adult single bed and one suitable for a child. The garden is private and extremely pretty, with mature shrubs and trees all around. Look out towards the horizon and you will see the green pastureland giving way to the bluest of seas, where shoals of fish glisten in the sun. The cottage is a short walk from the wonderful Ventnor Botanic Garden, which benefits from The Undercliffs Mediterranean climate, enabling many varieties of worldwide subtropical and temperate plants to thrive here. As well as having a very popular café/restaurant, the gardens hold many exhibitions and events throughout the year. Just a 15-minute walk along the coastal path will bring you to the islands hidden treasure, Steephill Cove, where you can swim safely and stroll along its sand and shingle beach. Watch the fisherman launch their boats, or sit on the beach enjoying a crab sandwich, while watching some of the islands most spectacular sunsets. A wonderful cottage, perfect for families exploring the Isle of Wight, all year round.
The Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor is situated at the southern end of the Isle of Wight. The town is sheltered by St. Boniface Down, one of the island's highest points, and it also offers sandy and shingle beaches, the Botanical Gardens, shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

So much of the experience was very positive. However, some aspects could clearly be improved: 1. You need to get a new sofa - it smells and it is very uncomfortable (it is falling apart and seated cushions fly up everywhere - someone can hurt themselves sitting down). 2. Could have made better efforts at cleaning the property of all those many spiders you have (I know it is spider season, but the number of them all over the cottage was huge). 3. Beds upstairs are not that comfortable (they are ok, but could be much nicer in terms of the mattresses). Everything else was all good.

It's a lovely spot to have a coffee in the morning and feel the sea air. Unfortunately the property was let down by small issues, including uncomfortable spring beds, lack of blinds in the downstairs bedroom, and an uncomfortable sofa. Broken sleep affected our overall stay, but should these small issues be rectified, it would definitely make the property 5/5.
