The Workshop in Ventnor is a spacious and well-appointed property, praised for its generous space, central location, and thoughtful welcome hamper. Guests enjoyed the outdoor areas and found the property to be a comfortable base for exploring the Isle of Wight, despite some concerns over temperature control and parking challenges.
Cleanliness is generally good, but there were issues with pet hair from a previous guest, which affected a family with allergies. The cleaning team may need to be more thorough, especially after guests with pets.
The location is central and convenient, close to amenities and the beach. However, the steep hill and lack of on-site parking posed challenges for some guests.
The property is spacious and generally comfortable, but there are repeated mentions of issues with high temperatures inside, suggesting a need for better temperature management.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a gas BBQ and a Nespresso machine mentioned positively. However, there is insufficient information to fully assess maintenance, such as the reported fridge and freezer issues.
The welcome hamper was a much-appreciated touch, indicating thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gestures are at the discretion of the owners and may not be a consistent offering.

The summer house at the end of the patio was a lovely retreat for reading when raining or the sun went down. Parking outside whilst unloading and loading needed some speed and agility owing to the traffic and steepness of the road.

I would not hesitate in recommending the property to others. As a separate note, at no fault of the owner we were unfortunately affected by the previous occupants who along with some general hygiene issues that were not corrected by housekeeping team. They had brought a dog to the property despite this being pet free accommodation. Which for a family with a child with serious allergies, not resolved by a few antihistamines was far from ideal. We realised this the morning after our arrival when we found our belongings had dog hairs on them, and with a look round found the lounge area was heavily affected with one chair being matted in short dog hairs. We immediately let the owner know who was mortified at this having occurred and was going to follow up with Sykes and the previous occupants. My son did require his emergency medication, and it did stop us from spending time on the upper floor lounge areas which was a huge shame and we spent a great deal of time out on the island. On a personal note I find this type of behaviour from the previous occupants to be wholly selfish and inconsiderate of both the owners property and to other guests that followed on. I am just grateful that we didnât end up with a hospital visit, and as a parent put me on edge which shouldnât have been the case when we were on holiday. I do think the previous occupants should be sanctioned by Sykes for failing to follow the property rules; for failing to communicate with the owner and consider others in particular as they had also not left other aspects of the property in a desirable condition that were not detected by the cleaners. The cleaning teams are there to undertake routine cleans and preparation after guests leave, and guests should respect

There was an issue with the water which apparently was a general issue in Ventnor and at times we had none - it would have been useful to have been warned of this. I text Bob about it and he came back straight away. There is nowhere to hang wet towels in the downstairs ensuite - a couple of towel hooks on the back of the bathroom door would solve this.
