About this property

Based in the quiet village of Ruckinge in South Kent is this delightful property, Old Post Office. Originally a post office for the village, the property has been lovingly converted into a character-full holiday home, providing a great touring base for family and friends alike. After a lovely day at the beach, look forward to putting your feet up in the lounge, relaxing into your evening whilst catching up on your favourite TV shows. You have all you need to put together a feast in the kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and even a dishwasher so washing up is effortless! Move into the dining room to enjoy a deliciously prepared meal as you chat about the holiday so far, with thought about what is next to come whilst enjoying our wood burning stove. On the ground floor you can discover a double and twin bedroom, ideal for the older members of the group, while upstairs offers a double and single bedded, offering a variety of sleeping arrangements. Wake up to a refreshing shower to kick start your day or enjoy soothing evening baths for complete relaxation. The first floor also occupies a quiet sitting room and a useful kitchenette/diner boasting similar appliances to downstairs, providing plenty of options for guests. On a warm evening, take yourself out to the garden and relax at the furniture, sipping on a glass of rosé while the children have fun on the grass. Stroll into Hamstreet to find a small selection of amenities, including a convenience store for picking up any essentials and a pub and Indian restaurant, perfect if you want to take a night off cooking. If the weather’s good, be sure to soak up the sun at St. Mary’s Bay, a sandy stretch between Dymchurch and Littlestone-on-Sea, providing ideal conditions for sandcastle building, swimming and snorkelling. Alternatively, walkers will appreciate exploring the scenic routes within Kent Downs AONB where a wealth of wildlife is awaiting to be explored. Those with children must visit the popular Dinosaur Forest at Port Lympne; get close to prehistoric life-sized creatures or take a journey through the safari park while meeting incredible animals along the way! For a change of scenery, take a day trip to Canterbury, one of the most beautiful historic cities in the country and home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With plenty to fill your holiday itinerary, a getaway to Old Post Office promises one to remember.

Hamstreet is a small village positioned on the main road between Ashford and Hastings in Kent. It offers basic amenities including a choice of independent shops, eateries and a convenience store. The scenic Saxon Shore Way runs closeby, offering a long-distance footpath through the Kent countryside. The village is also within easy reach of the coast, particularly the coastal village of Dymchurch and St. Mary’s Bay where a secluded cove can be discovered.

The addition of blankets for pets to use on the couch is nice, and thoughtful to provide dog-do bags. The property is just as it looks, cosy and comfortable. There is a well maintained and interesting wildlife garden, with lots of seating (weather permitting). Well situated for local walks, and travel in all directions, with plenty of interesting places to visit within a 30 - 40 minute drive radius. Excellent garden centre, pub and Indian takeaway locally too. We have had a great time at this property, and plan to return.

Great communication with the owner, the property was perfect for us everything we needed for our stay, location was great as well close to Ashford outlet Canterbury and not too far from London
