About this property

Tucked away in a private courtyard in the centre of the market town of Sandwich, is this character, three-storey home, 7 Watts Yard. Originally part of the former Watts Yard Building, this property has been wonderfully converted to provide a fantastic holiday base for a party of six. Upon arrival you are greeted by a sought-after off-road parking space, and with everything in walking distance, you’ll hardly need the car all week! Make your way inside and become familiar with the kitchen, home to an assortment of appliances and units, aiding your home-cooking experience. Gather at the dining table and enjoy a group supper before sinking into the settee and catching up on your favourite shows. A door leads out to the enclosed courtyard garden, providing a lovely space to enjoy a beverage whilst you consider your holiday agenda. Move to the first floor and find two bedrooms, a double and a twin, serviced by a principle bathroom with dual aspect. Up another set of stairs leads to the second-floor single bedroom, which benefits from an en-suite shower. When you’re ready to explore, you won’t have to go far to find a collection of pubs, restaurants and cafés to suit all tastes and budgets. There are plenty of attractions worth visiting, including the Sandwich Guildhall Museum, the White Mill Rural Heritage Museum and the Gazen Salts Nature Reserve, all must-visit spots whilst you’re in the area. Just north of the town lies Richborough Fort, one of the most symbolically-important of all the Roman sites in Britain, holding unique Roman artefacts and the remains of an amphitheatre. Head out on a ramble or bike ride through Kent Downs, offering stunning scenery and some of the finest views in the county, whilst Dover is nearby, with the picturesque White Cliffs provide a memorable adventure. Choose 7 Watts Yard for a central base in this historic market town, whatever time of year.

One of the original five Cinque Ports, Sandwich, became wealthy by building ships for the queen before a formal fleet was established. 2 miles separate it from the ocean. The river is currently ideal for leisurely boat cruises to see the seals sunbathing close to Pegwell Bay or to visit the stunning Roman town ruins at Richborough. This mysterious location is managed by English Heritage and offers a fascinating look into life under Roman rule. The mediaeval Cinque Port of Sandwich, with its historic structures, natural preserves, golf courses, and pleasant country pubs, cafés, and restaurants, is a must-see destination for tourists. Sandwich is also surrounded by charming little towns like Eastry, Ash, Worth, and Woodnesborough, and the surrounding cities of Canterbury and the Port of Dover are easily accessible. Because Sandwich is home to the Royal Saint George's Golf Club, once dubbed the "most magnificent seaside golf course in the world," golfers are particularly drawn to the area.

Sandwich offers all the amenities you could want with many pubs, restaurants, shops and selection of takeaways for those relaxing nights in and all within walking distance of the cottage. So ideal base to allow you to visit the local area/ attractions. Set in a secluded courtyard, with parking, means you do not need to go anywhere, as you can just relax in peace and quiet. We wouldn't need to think twice before booking again, as we had all we needed in the cottage and in the location of Sandwich. Owners have provided all you need for your stay. Also Sykes communications with me before and during stay was really great and knew actually how I would get to and into cottage.

It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We found the lighting downstairs was not bright enough to read easily but perhaps most people would not mind about that. The owner responded quickly to queries.

Minor issues locks on the bathrooms did not work. Frying pans provided do not work on an induction hob. TV remote stopped working even after changing the batteries. However none of these issues prevented us from enjoying our stay. Would certainly recommend.
