Surrounded by open skies and marshland, it’s a place where you can truly unwind - yet it’s just an hour from London.

Inside, the space is light-filled and contemporary, with original beams, generous communal areas, and thoughtful touches throughout. Whether you’re cooking up a feast in the open-plan kitchen, gathering around the table for a long dinner, or relaxing in the garden with the sound of birdsong, The Saltings makes it easy to switch off and reconnect.

Step outside and you’re already on the Isle of Harty Trail - a scenic, mostly flat loop ideal for walkers, cyclists and even little legs. You’ll find miles of traffic-free exploring, two national nature reserves full of birds and wildlife, and quiet beaches nearby for paddling, picnicking and ice cream by the sea.

Fancy a pub lunch or special dinner? Just a short stroll away is the award-winning Ferry House - our family-run 2AA Rosette pub and restaurant, known for its warm welcome and homegrown produce.

Please note, The Ferry House will close for regular dining from April 2026, reopening on select dates for special events. Private dining for larger groups may be offered, subject to availability – please contact us for further details. In-cottage catering will still be available.

Dog friendly and family friendly, The Saltings has a fully-fenced, dog-safe garden and access to a dedicated dog exercise paddock, free to all guests. Travel cots and camp beds are available too, so everyone can be included - two-legged and four.

As part of the Mocketts Farm collection, The Saltings can also be booked with the other four cottages to sleep up to 53 guests across 23 bedrooms. Perfect for weddings, reunions, or large group stays where you want to be together but still enjoy your own space.

Inside The Saltings

The Saltings has plenty of wow factor. A stunning barn conversion with rustic charm and modern comforts, it’s designed for laid-back gatherings and easy living. Accommodation is spread over two spacious levels.

Downstairs:

The heart of the house is the spectacular dining room, with a vaulted ceiling, chandelier, and an 18-seat dining table framed by huge windows and countryside views. Flagstone floors and oak beams nod to the barn’s heritage, while the quality furnishings bring it right into the present.

A vast kitchen and family room is flooded with natural light, with windows on both sides and plenty of space to cook, chat and relax. A waist-height bench divides the kitchen and lounge area, keeping things open and sociable.

The kitchen is fully equipped to cater for a crowd - with a big American-style fridge/freezer, plenty of storage and everything you need to cook and serve for 18. A welcome basket of local juice and biscuits will be waiting for you on arrival.

The lounge area has multiple sofas and a 42" TV with Freeview and a DVD player - perfect for unwinding after a day out.

A ground-floor ensuite bedroom offers step-free access for guests with limited mobility. It can be set up as a double or a twin, and has an accessible wetroom-style bathroom.

Upstairs:

Five more ensuite bedrooms, each with zip-link beds that can be made up as a double or two singles - just let us know your preference when booking.

All rooms have their own ensuite (with bath or shower), and a TV.

Cots (no bedding) and camp beds are available on request to accommodate a few extra guests if needed.

Outside:

The Saltings has its own private, dog-safe, fully-fenced garden and sits next to a pretty fenced duck pond and picnic area.

Guests have access to a shared games room in a separate building, with pool, table tennis and table football.

There’s plenty of off-street parking, and a bookable dog exercise paddock is available for all Mocketts guests to enjoy.

 

The Practical Bits

One dog is welcome by prior arrangement (two small dogs may be considered - please ask when booking).

All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included.

Travel cots (please bring your own bedding), stair gates and highchairs are available on request.

Smoking is not permitted inside any buildings at Mocketts Farm.

Short breaks and flexible stays are welcomed throughout the year.
