This was a little bit of a retreat in our trip to England! We loved being in the English countryside for a bit of a reprieve from the business of London. We enjoyed the town pub. Our host was amazing and very helpful!

Perfectly located to walk the most scenic, remote and pretty parts of the Ridgeway starting right from the door! Also the parts that have the most neolithic/bronze/iron age remains (especially if heading west). Also masses of excellent circular walks from the doorstep and very nearby. Extremely comfortable, wonderfully clean and superbly equipped - literally everything you could need. We had two fabulous nights there and enjoyed some wonderful walking and relaxing. We brought food and self catered - it's extremely well set up for that - and enjoyed some delicious meals sitting up at the breakfast bar overlooking the field in the glorious sunshine in the morning, and watching the birds bed down and the stars come out in the evening. Saw so many red kites! The cabin has lots of glazing so it's wonderfully light and airy, and we had great weather so had all the doors and windows open - it was almost like being outside (except extremely comfortable on the big leather sofa!). Just be aware that the cabin itself isn't isolated with houses and a road behind so there's a moderate amount of road and other ambient noise with the windows open or sitting outside. However it's not overly intrusive and is much quieter in the evenings, and with the windows shut you can't hear it at all. We slept like logs on the big, comfortable bed and had great showers in the very spacious wet room. Highly recommend and thank you to Sue for providing such a welcoming, comfortable, stylish and thoroughly enjoyable place to stay.
