The Stables Barn in Arundel receives high praise for its peaceful location, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful touches. Guests appreciate the proximity to woods for dog walking, the well-appointed and clean property, and the warm welcome from the host, Debbie. The enclosed garden and conservatory are particular highlights, contributing to a relaxing stay.
Reviews consistently mention the property being clean and well-maintained, with only one guest suggesting improvement in cleanliness. The majority positive feedback indicates a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is celebrated for its tranquility and convenience, with easy access to the A27 and local attractions. The proximity to woods and the coast is a plus, although one review mentions noise from the A27.
Guests find the property very comfortable, highlighting the quality of the bed and the variety of places to relax, including the conservatory. The comfort of both humans and pets is well-regarded.
Facilities are generally praised, especially for being dog-friendly and well-equipped. However, there are minor points about steep stairs and a sloped ceiling in the bedroom, as well as a note on the freezer being just an icebox.
The host's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating welcome packs and extras. While gifts are warmly received, it should be noted that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.
This former stable building rests in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, on the edge of the hamlet of Fontwell. Presented to an excellent standard with easy access to the South Downs National Park, The Stables Barn is a delightful escape for couple looking to spend some time in this part of Sussex. Step into your new home-from-home and become acquainted amongst the appliances in the kitchen, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and even a washing machine, so there’s no need to bring your whole wardrobe! Escape to the lounge for your down time, curling up on the sofa and catching up on your favourite shows, or choose the conservatory for some quiet time. Head outdoors and make the most of the enclosed garden patio, offering a furniture set from which you can enjoy alfresco dining on a balmy evening. Whisk away upstairs and make yourself comfortable within the bedroom, complete with a TV and king-size bed. After a leisurely slumber, wake yourself up with a refreshing rinse in the shower room before going about your day. The local area is filled with excellent walking opportunities, with the South Downs National Park offering a myriad of routes and chalk cliffs that stretch for 260 square miles. Visit the historical market town of Arundel, home to a medieval castle and quaint antique stores, where you can enjoy a meal in a rustic pub and meander around the charming streets. Further afield, explore the Roman city of Chichester and visit its beautiful cathedral, or catch a race day at the Goodwood Racecourse. There’s lots to look forward to whilst staying at The Stables Barn.
Fontwell is a small hamlet in the heart of the Sussex countryside, made famous by Fontwell Park Racecourse, where in October 1949 Princess Elizabeth, now Queen Elizabeth II had her first win as the owner of Monaveen. The racecourse is still a popular venue with 23 meetings each year, including the customary Boxing Day race day. Fontwell itself is made up of several scattered cottages and equestrian centres, nestled within Slindon Woods on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Arundel is 5 miles to the east, here visitors are able to tread cobbled streets and explore this pretty market town with its castle and cathedral both set high up on the hills overlooking the River Arun. Arundel also offers quaint shops, art galleries and a number of pubs and restaurants, as well as a monthly farmers’ market, here you can buy local cheeses and breads, along with fruits and cakes, so why not fill your picnic basket and head for the South Downs, or to the coast for a day on the beach. You cannot come to this part of Sussex without visiting Goodwood. With horse racing, motor racing and Goodwood House, a 17th century stately house home to the Duke of Richmond (open to the public from March to October) everyone will have a day to remember. With so much to see and do you will want to return to this Sussex hamlet time and again.

Arundel has an amazing Chinese and Italian restaurant. The owner supplied everything for our dog and made him feel really welcome, he had a safe secure and good area to run around in ,plus Slindon Wood 3 minutes walk away. The stairs are steep and the ceiling slopes very low either side of a low bed in a very large and pretty bedroom.
