The Lodge is only 20 minutes from the New Forest National Park, famous for its ponies, and borders Martin Down National Nature Reserve which is known for its wildlife, rare flowers and butterflies as well as the Jubilee Trail which crosses from border to border across Dorset and there is direct access to many miles of stunning footpaths, bridleways and cross-country cycling to enjoy around the hamlet of Pentridge.
Although the lodge is set in a quiet countryside location, you are only 40 minutes from the glorious sandy beaches of the south coast and the fossils of the Jurassic coast. If you are searching for a fun-filled day trip, then New Forest Water Park, Longleat, Peppa Pig World, Monkey World, and Bovington Tank Museum will offer fun for all ages and are well worth a visit. My partner and I really enjoyed our stay. It's quiet and secluded which was perfect to come back to after a day of adventuring. There was a helpful guest guide that told you everything you need to know about the lodge and how to work the oven, dishwasher etc as well as info on the surrounding area. You were also provided with toiletries in the bathrooms, dishwasher tablets and salt and pepper shakers. It sounds a little silly to get excited about that but a couple of places I or my family have visited had nothing like that so would have to spend more money on everything we didn't have. Over all a wonderful place to stay!

We had a great week at Whitey Top Lodge in June 2026 even though the weather wasn't very favourable. Its rural location, tucked away on a working farm at the end of a small village, was great for walking with direct access to the many footpaths leading onto the nearby downs. There is a great array of local wildlife - we lost count of the number of Red Kites seen from the lodge and the butterflies on nearby Martin Down were fabulous. The lodge itself was very clean, comfortable and well equipped with the owners were close by if needed.
