Conveniently located just back off the road, this homely and comfortable semi-detached property is in a semi rural location, perfect for exploring this ever popular area. With Wimborne, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Ringwood, Fordingbridge and the New Forest all within easy access, there is something for everyone, all year round. Oakdene Lodge has an extensive enclosed lawned garden and a sitting-out area under a canopy of wisteria, plus private parking. There is a property attached which is occasionally used by the owner, and a wooded area to the back of the garden. Inside, there are features such as an open fire, parquet floors in the living areas and slate tiled floor in the farmhouse style kitchen/dining room. As well as the large main living room, there is a separate sitting room with table and cosy wood burner.
Oakdene Lodge is located near to Moors Valley Country Park, which is great for all ages and is also dog-friendly. As well as scenic walks and excellent wildlife spotting, there are many recreational activities such as orienteering, cycle hire, angling, horse riding, GoApe Treetop Adventure, Segway and more! Avon Heath and Queens Copse are other nearby walking areas. There is a ski centre in the area as well as other activities including clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, golf and fishing. There is a lovely thatched roof pub/restaurant about a 5-minute walk away. Many holidaymakers visit The New Forest National Park where you can see the free-roaming ponies, donkeys and cattle, and enjoy off-road walking, riding and cycling. The quaint market town of Fordingbridge is close by with its famous stone bridge and fine arches, plenty of shops, pubs, a café and riverside location to enjoy. The priory town of Christchurch is also a short journey away with its beautiful harbour. Oakdene is in an ideal location for leaving the car and exploring close by attractions by foot.
Close by is a waterpark and both market towns of Wimborne and Ringwood are a short drive away, which also have a selection of shops, pubs and eateries. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth and Poole is within easy reach, as is the city of Salisbury with its medieval cathedral. There are many places of interest for the family to visit, including Marwell Zoological Park, New Forest Otter and Owl Wildlife Park or a day out at Beaulieu Motor Museum to name but a few places of interest nearby. Further afield, but worth the trip are Stonehenge, Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool and Southampton with its maritime history and West Quay shopping centre. There is much to visit further afield, in particular the unspoilt countryside of Dorset, famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast from West Bay, Bridport and on to Weymouth with its superb scenery and coastal walking. Spend a day at Lyme Regis with its harbour, renowned Cobb, beach and shops and enjoy fossil hunting, boating, swimming and fishing. There are many historic houses to visit in particular Forde Abbey and Gardens, or family attractions such as Pecorama, the quarries at Beer, or inland at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton which is an adventure in itself. Beach 8 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub/restaurant ¼ mile.

The kitchen was very well equipped lots of extra s cake bubbly milk tea coffee and massive bowl of fruit .Thank you .House near road so noise more then expected .We felt the house could do with TLC good clean and paint .Lots of flys so spray handy. Old furniture etc showers bit old and taped up . Local country park excellent .

On arrival, we found a huge bowl of fruit waiting for us along with a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge.Kitchen was very well equipped with just about everything you'd need and more.A large fan was supplied in all rooms which was well appreciated. When booking, I never saw anything saying that dogs weren't to be left alone in the house during the day which could cause a few problems.Only a couple of annoying things were the internal doors and upstairs floorboards. Due to the type of wooden doors, they can make a noise while opening or closing them as slightly warped and dont always fit as well as would have thought and the door into living room cannot be closed as bottom touches but top well away.The floorboards upstairs creak quite a lot as does the headboard on the double bed upstairs.Saying all that, its a lovely house and plenty of room and a large garden for the kids.

Arrived at the holiday cottage for a weeks stay and location wise it’s excellent and central to lots of attractions.Bournemouth is 20 min drive away. We had a boat ride around Poole and the islands which was 30 min drive. Dorset Shire horse farm is also very good. The cottage had parking to rear and just a note you will have to walk a few metres from the car to the cottage through 2 gates with all your stuff which some unable people might find a struggle. The cottage was spacious and we were left a lovely bowl of fruit, large cake, milk, tea and coffee and bottle of prosecco. Handwash and toilet rolls were plentiful as were cleaning products just a shame they wernt really used. The cottage had a bedroom on the ground floor with en suite, but it was small. The double bed was pushed up against the wall so there was only access to it from one side - which was difficult for my elderly parents to get in. The cottage was not clean. We had to wear shoes all the time as our feet would be black with the floors. Lots of cobwebs and spiders, downstairs shower all rusty and the hoover when used smelt of dogs. The kitchen table had to be cleaned before we ate off it - it was brown with dirt - everywhere was dusty and appliances were dirty - it was very disappointing considering the previous reviews.Saw a rat running from out the back to the bush where there is ponies kept. Not good! Tried to sit out in garden but seats were under a massive pergola covered in wisteria plant and was covered in dead leaves and petals - not swept off in weeks we did clear some of it but not our job to as meant to be on holiday!The furniture was old and not comfortable - sofas in lounges had seen better days bed in main bedroom upstairs really rickety - cottage needs a big overhaul and re-decorating in my opinion. Not usual Hoseasons standards we were used to. Upstairs bathroom is very noisy when toilet flushes and shower is used as house uses a septic tank.Pub down the road the Three Legged Cross we went to on our last night. Was expecting a good meal given the reviews but the service was terribly slow took 2 hours for starter and main and wasn’t busy. Good food, however but very overpriced in my opinion. Overall holiday was good and the cottage had a few nice touches but needs major clean and overhaul. Good location and spacious.
