Trevivian House is a charming, characterful cottage in picturesque Boscastle, offering a cosy and comfortable stay with a lovely garden and sea views. Guests praise its well-equipped kitchen, cleanliness, and peaceful location close to local pubs and scenic walks. While the cottage is not modern and some areas could benefit from updating, its unique charm and dog-friendly atmosphere make it a favourite for many. Multiple guests mention the cottage being clean and tidy on arrival, with particular praise for fresh bed linen and towels. No significant cleanliness issues were raised.
The location is highly praised for its quiet setting, beautiful views, proximity to Boscastle harbour, and access to local amenities and walks. The steep hill may be a challenge for some, but most guests found the setting ideal.
Guests describe the cottage as cosy and comfortable, though some mention the beds as average and the space as a tight fit for larger groups. The sitting room seating and bathroom could benefit from updating.
The cottage is generally well equipped, especially the kitchen, and the garden is a highlight. Some guests note the bathroom and seating could use improvement, and the lack of a shower may be an issue for some. Parking is tight for larger cars.
The owner is described as welcoming and attentive, even arranging extra garden chairs for guests. While this level of hospitality is appreciated, such gestures are not guaranteed for all stays.

Boscastle is one of the most scenic coastal villages in North Cornwall and is perfect for those who want to walk and discover the amazing scenery. It has a lovely small harbour which was built to handle the slate trade from nearby Delabole quarries and is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The medieval harbour is also maintained by the National Trust. Nearby Tintagel is inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur and is steeped in history. A visit to the English Heritage site of Tintagel Castle, where legend and historical fact alike meet stunning scenery, is a definite must while in the area and for Arthurian enthusiasts, it is unmissable!
There are many beaches in the area for surfers and sunseekers alike including Trebarwith, Bossiney and the Castle Beach. Much of the North Cornish coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities with many well-trodden routes. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover along this coastline including Crackington Haven, Boscastle and Morwenstow. A little further to the south is the fishing port of Padstow and quaint Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame, and 15 miles to the north is the fabulous coastal town of Bude.
If you fancy crossing over the border into Devon and enjoy open spaces, then Dartmoor National Park is 30 miles or so to the east where you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! Beach 2¾ miles. Pub and restaurant 50 yards.

What a marvelous place to stay. My husband and I visited for two weeks with our dog and had the best of times. The house is beautifully located in Boscastle with distant view of the sea from the garden. It is very quiet but also has Napoleons pub in immediate proximity which is very much worth a visit. The house is very well equipped, especially in the kitchen, and nicely decorated. The owner welcomed us on the first day via email and stayed in touch during our stay. They even went out of their way and ordered additional garden chairs delivered directly to the house. Thanks, Liz, for your hospitality. We enjoyed our vacation very much.

Just got back from a lovely week long stay in Trevivian House - what a gorgeous little cottage with everything needed for a perfect stay in a stunning location. Cottage was very comfortable with everything conveniently at hand and the garden was the icing on the cake - just beautiful. We just love Boscastle and all the surrounding fishing villages and stunning beaches - weather was gorgeous during our week stay which made it all the better. We didn’t want to leave and hopefully be back very soon.
