The Old Stable in Cornwall is a quaint and cosy cottage praised for its excellent location near the beach and its overall charm. Guests appreciate the comfortable bed and the property's suitability for pets. While some find the space small and quirky, the unique character and proximity to coastal walks contribute to a memorable stay. The village's friendly atmosphere and scenic surroundings are also noted.
The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it well-kept. There are isolated mentions of dog hair and mould, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is highly praised for its closeness to the beach and the peaceful village setting, making it an ideal spot for guests looking to enjoy coastal walks and sea swimming.
Guests find the bed comfortable and the cottage cosy, although some report the bedroom as small and the property as not practical for longer stays due to its size.
The facilities are adequate for short stays, but guests note issues with the extractor fans and limited cooking facilities. Maintenance concerns, such as the need for mould treatment, affect the score.
The provision of tea, coffee, and biscuits is appreciated, indicating a thoughtful host. However, as not all reviews mention gifts, and to ensure expectations are managed, it's noted that such gestures, while delightful, are not guaranteed.

The property is very small which we knew but that was fine it was a base to explore that part of Cornwall we had no intention of cooking so didnât worry about the kitchen set up I do think that it would be nice if you updated the property listing as there is no pub and hasnât been for quite a while and no beach cafe so nothing left in porthallow

The Old Stable had everything we needed for a comfortable week away, although I would not think a longer stay would be practicable owing to the basic cooking facilities (a portable two ring electric hob and microwave) and just a tumble drier meaning handwashing lighter items of clothing, finding a laundrette or bringing lots of stuff. We appreciated the good quality tea, coffee bags and biscuits which are the hallmark of a thoughtful and welcoming host. Towels and tea towels are provided but bring your own beach towels. The bed on its little gallery is comfortable but we found moving the rolling steps to and fro in order to cook then wash up a bit of a faff, be aware they are quite heavy with steel handrails and glass panels. We knew about this arrangement, and it wouldn't put us off staying here again. No outside space of course, which we also knew about, but the quiet beach is adjacent and is one of our favourites on the Lizard. The Five Pilchards pub, which in the past has done good pub food, has closed down and is for sale but we had a great meal at the beach café next door. I know people rave about the Fat Apples café just up the lane but every time we went past we had just missed it being open. It shuts promptly at 5 pm. Our dog enjoyed staying here and we were glad she couldn't get up the steep steps and attempt to climb onto the bed to find us, which she sometimes does in an unfamiliar house. She had to stay in her own dog bed. She knew where we were and could see us so she was content. This was a definite plus for us.

It was small but well appointed. The owner, Marji, was helpful and kind when we had a query. We had a wonderful week there. Thank you.
